View Full Version : When things don't go your way...
Angel_Eyes 25-04-08, 04:04 PM ...do you give up just like that
OR
do you try again and try harder the next time?
does failure discourage you/slow you down/stop you?

It depends on how intent I am on succeeding.
If I want to get from point A to point B badly enough, and I fall on my knees, it will just make me more determined to get up and push harder.
Angel_Eyes 25-04-08, 04:21 PM ^that means you are very competitive...;) that's good.
When I was lil my grandma told me that women are like grapevines, the more they struggle, the sweeter the grape will be! Ive always lived by this and I never consider anything as a "failure" just as a chance to try it again or as a learning opportunity. If everytime you face a difficulty you stop and whinge about you will never learn, you will never find true happiness and contentment.
I think "failures" are an opportunity not a disappointment
Angel_Eyes 25-04-08, 04:29 PM ^wow..i love your persepective..very impressive i must say. very good answer :) you;ve opened up my angel eyes even more:p
^ Lol! Thanx Angel! It isnt always easy but you gotta be strong and keep going no matter what.
Miss_Crocodilo 25-04-08, 05:09 PM "Failure" slows me down.
For example, I got a really low mark in a Physics test two weeks ago. Instead of trying harder in last week's test, I did not study at all because I felt that no matter how hard I study, I end up with the same mark.
Although failure slows me down, I still manage to work even harder after hitting the bottom.
PiZzaZz 25-04-08, 05:11 PM Depends on what am fighting for..
Superbia 25-04-08, 05:13 PM I yell, cry, isolate myself for a while.. Then meditate for a plan B :D
I believe in these to sayings:
' The poison the doesn't kill me, makes me stronger'
So whenever the way gets harder the more I want to do it and gets bigger and worths struggling for in my eyes which leads to the second saying: No pain, no gain'
But also depends on what am fighting for. Everything has its share of pain lol.
I believe in these to sayings:
' The poison the doesn't kill me, makes me stronger'
Or fatter :rolleyes::D
Which I don't believe in. That's why I see things positively :D
Endure Whisper 25-04-08, 06:42 PM How important is this "thing"?
If it is: I'd try again until I'm satisfied even if it's not upto my expectations.
If it's not: millons of hell to it; why waste time or energy?
Cinnamon Queen 25-04-08, 06:52 PM ofcourse I wont give up, I'll keep trying, I mean Thomas Edison failed over 6000 times before making the first light bulb. I know my knowledge isnt as broad as his, but what makes me any different? I will keep trying no matter what.
As Kennedy said "only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly".
Angel_Eyes 25-04-08, 07:23 PM ^ I LOOOOVE your answer..perfect!
dam3t-malak 25-04-08, 07:40 PM i am with those who said "depends on what i am fighting for"
if it something that means alot to me i wont give up .
anyway i always have hope so that means i never give up:)
ofcourse I wont give up, I'll keep trying, I mean Thomas Edison failed over 6000 times before making the first light bulb
Why do you want to make a light bulb? :os
Superbia 25-04-08, 07:44 PM LOL @ Jeff. I think she was just trying to point out that impossible is nothing :p
Angel_Eyes 25-04-08, 07:48 PM i fight for anything i want:) and i always get my way :)
AMARANT 26-04-08, 12:58 AM Depends on what am fighting for..
ditto  .
minerva 26-04-08, 01:08 AM if i fail, i lose heart, especially if i worked hard to achieve the 'thing'. i get demoralised for a little while, mope a bit...in the meantime i study myself and see why i failed. was it my fault or was it something beyond my control.
after a bit of reflection, my next effort is usually harder and i manage to get satisfied (success) eventually.
Pygmalion 26-04-08, 02:08 AM I am very weak at failing…it would depress me and I would lose my sleep for a couple of days…. But I usually retrieve my spirit faster than I thought…also I think once you gain a good number of achievements, it makes you more accepting to failure and more believing in that people have different abilities and interest…basically you need to get to the point where you can get over believing you are a failure…
I think one must train himself “the virtue of achieving” , it works twice, it strengthen your believe that you can always do it and it also helps you get over “unlucky experiences”..(you will not call them failed missions then)
Libellula 26-04-08, 02:26 AM Depends on what it is I'm trying to achieve. Some are worth fighting for or trying harder for, while others really aren't worth the struggle to me.
squinty 26-04-08, 02:47 AM I give up these days.. and sometimes I feel like trying harder..
Throughout my life I have been trying hard but never got better...
So I think there is no use..
I am very weak at failing…it would depress me and I would lose my sleep for a couple of days…. But I usually retrieve my spirit faster than I thought…
i think i'm very much like that. i need the failure to sink in before i'm able to turn it into positive energy and start all over again.
death rose 26-04-08, 10:15 PM if im too annoyed and lazy ill give up
but if i have time and im pretty hyper and in a good mood then ill keep trying
but sometimes when something doesnt go your way you just think ino thats it it never will and dont do anything about it
Manchester 27-04-08, 03:18 AM Failure is a way to success. Almost everyone fails at some point of their lives, should cherish the experience and learn from it as much as possible. If it is something important then I would push myself to the limits until I succeed.
If I fail once I lose hope and it might take me ages to get motivated again. So yeah, it slows me down to an extent. I take my time and try harder .. I don't wanna screw up again.
i say f*** it, let's try a diff method, but i sure finish wat i start.
hav to finish my projects!!
Dam3eti 27-04-08, 11:33 AM I tend to give up easily, but it depends on what the thing is. I usually lose motivation and give up for a short period of time then try again.
Fast_HacKinG 27-04-08, 11:44 AM I work with particularity and capability for each circumstance; different needs and different preference to my priorities.
it depends on what it is.. if its something that i didnt want so bad.. then i give up.. but if i really wanted it id try my best..but if it didnt work out then i wont give up.. ill just know theres something better then what i wanted n accept the fact that i didnt get it..
