View Full Version : Table Manners
I have noticed that a number of ppl lack table manners.
For example, when we go out with friends, for dinner, shawarma or anything like that, you will always have a guy or two who are there to spoil your appetite.
They either start talking loudly while chewing, or some would have mayonnaise on the side of their mouth while still eating and laughing away.
Some with slurp on their soup like they are the only ppl on the world.
Where did these ppl learn their manners?
The surprising thing is I have noticed this only in guys, girls are usually quite aware and in control of their manners.
Have any of you come across this? Or am I hanging with weird ppl?
Since the culture is the same, how come girls handle it better than boys?
What you do to avoid being in a disgusting situation, would you tell the guy to wipe, stop slurping on his soup, and keep his mouth shut while chewing?
AMARANT 22-04-08, 02:25 PM DUH !
off course u would see it in boys more than girls, el shabab difsheen (guys r messy) :p
and u would usually find those in low-end restaurants,,, the type that any1 can go to,,,, but i assume that a person who pays more to eat in a good place, would be more respectful....
i usually tell whoever does that to stop, if he's with me on the same table...
if he's on another table, then i might just ignore, or give him a nasty look if he overdo it...
Endure Whisper 22-04-08, 03:38 PM Luckily I don't get to deal with that. The people I hang out with have table/eating manners.
sameerb1 22-04-08, 04:02 PM why would you be looking at or hearing someone else while you are in a restaurant with your friends? that's bad table manners you know!
keep your mind and self on your own table and on your own food!

Me too for the most part. But sometimes you come across them, and I just can't help stare at them. If I know them and I am comfortable with them, then I would tell them. If I just met them, then I would just stare at them and place down my sandwich or whatever if I lost my appetite
i always lose my appetite when someone eats in a disgusting way. i can handle disgusting comments while eating as long as i don't imagine anything, but loud chewing sounds, messy hands..ugh
thank god the people i know have manners.
hey, how can someone laugh out loud with a full mouth? don't they choke?
Rossonero 22-04-08, 04:52 PM I hate it when people do the chewing sound .. or bite the spoon/fork!! Or eat while they mouth is wide open...Damn..Also people who talk while the food is still in their mouth or expect you to talk or say something while the food is in your mouth! And when they eat something else using a fork/knife they do that slurping sound like when others slurp soup!
Have any of you come across this? Or am I hanging with weird ppl?
Yes I do come across this..sometimes everyday.
Since the culture is the same, how come girls handle it better than boys?
Cuz girls are girls :p ..

I avoid looking at that person.

No, its some of my friends that am eating with. For example, we have this guy on a group, give him shawarma and expect to see mayonnaise on the side of his lips, I truly find this disgusting
Superbia 25-04-08, 02:22 AM It's grouse! What ticks me off the most, is when someone talks and eats at the same time. Yuck. :yuk:
What about you go to a mandi restaurant and you three or four share one large dish and the one facing you eats and talks and while talking some of the food comes out of his mouth raining the place you are eating from :yuk: .
It's grouse! What ticks me off the most, is when someone talks and eats at the same time. Yuck. :yuk:
Tell me about it, I try not to look at them coz my eyes directly go to their mouth and see the chewed food jumping on their tongue and lips and I just stop eating like wth :os
sameerb1 25-04-08, 08:39 AM The whole fun of going out and eating with friends is that you talk, you eat from the same plate, you drop mayo and ketchup in your plate.
if i want to have table manners, then just call it a business meeting instead of a friends gathering up...
some people have issues really!
Diabian 25-04-08, 08:57 AM Actually... u shouldn't go out with people like this if there are not ur freinds..
if they are truly ur friends, u shouldn't mind it actually.. or u could talk to them abt it!!
thats what "true" friends do!
I do tell them but the picture will still haunt me and I lose my apetite and they don't listen too, in contrary they will make it worse just to tease :hmm:
Libellula 25-04-08, 02:53 PM Most people I know have table manners. The only ones who might not are kids, and I can just correct them if they're eating with their mouths open or trying to talk at the same time.
UmKhalid 25-04-08, 03:12 PM Look at your food while eating and the problems will stop.
sameerb1 26-04-08, 10:02 AM ^Exectly!!!
Diabian 26-04-08, 04:16 PM ^ agree!!!
Cinnamon Queen 26-04-08, 04:20 PM My friends sometimes want to irritate me by eating with their mouths open, and I really hate that, so I automatically tell them to shut their trap, it really does agitate me and disgusts me (ylaw3oon el chebd). But I wont say such a thing to someone I'm very close to.
sameerb1 26-04-08, 10:14 PM imma kind of a person who would say anything for someone eats...only if someone is really being bad and doesnt know and it goes on and on...i will try to teach them for their own good...
