Any one knows, where is going to be built?

Instead of Al-Harthy Complex.

Mall of Oman?! :think: Aren't they talking about Muscat Mall, because the only link I found is pointing to that mall part of Tilal Al khuwair, which is actually Muscat Mall.

As far as I know, it's the thing they're buliding behind LULU.

as Far as i know, Muscat Grand Mall (in Tilal project) was once to be named Mall of Oman, but they changed the name because it sounded like a copy of Mall of Emirates...

The Project was supposed to be taken by Swaris group, the one owns a share in Muriya Toursim. Last I heard that project was cancelled after Gonu unless a soloution to the wadi would be done.

They can divert the Wadi can't they? Engineers make everything possible :p but Omanis don't like to spend lol

The project did get cancelled after Gonu. And it wasn't because the Omanis didn't wanna spend any more money (on top of the millions they were already gonna spend). The Egyptian dude decided it just wasn't worth it cuz Gonu caused too much of a mess. So all their brilliant plans to divert the wadi didn't seem so brilliant in the face of nature. Anyway he got "compensated" with another plot of land and he's got other projects he's working on anyway.

What Diva and Arabian Princess said it's true. Muriya's Tourism Development Company's project in Qurum was supposed to make Qurum's commercial area a big souq, not building a mall.

Btw it isn't called Swaris Group, it's called ORASCOM Group.

The project behind Al-Harthy Complex is supposed to be hotel apartments with a huge cinema complex owned by Kuwaiti investors.

As far as I know Al Harthy expansion has nothing to do with Mall of Oman
Mall of Oman is to be developed by MAjid Futtaim group.
The reason muscat grand mall was renamed to mgm is because MF group had already registered the name.
MF group wanted Naseem park to develop MoO but they were denied the property.
They were then given an undisclosed location to develop this project.
Don't quote me on that, I doubt the accuracy of my information.

I HIGHLY doubt they'd replace al harthy with this mall.

One more crowded place, I can't imagine how the traffic would be like in that area. It's already pathetic..

i doubt it'll have traffic problems, if it's behind al Harthy, cuz it'll have a distance between it and other crowded areas (Qurm CC, al araimi, CCC)

Great......... Oma is improving......... Its nice 2 C that we are having more options around..... ppl used 2 make fun that in Oman we have counted malls... I hope we gonna open more n more....... but I just hope they dont repeat the same shops/brands everywhere.......

Its because we keep fiddling with the wadis that we had so many problems after Gonu. Leave the wadis alone! Plenty of space elsewhere and heres a tip if you dont want to get flooded.... dont build in the wadi duh!:D

plus there will be a BIG change in roads, it will have an entrance from the highway,,,,,,,, they studied this traffic problem very intensively ....

It is not the Tilal one. Al-Futaim is planning to construct "Mall of Oman" according to MEED.

This won't happen anywhere close to Al Harhty Complex. The municipality didn't agree for this to happen, since it's in a Wadi area. As far as I know, there will be a Muscat Mall.

I hope Burger King will open there. :(

The next projects for MAF in Oman are all going to be in Sohar including a City Center. Mall of Oman is not the next project.
