In regard to this topic:
-Do we have many students in Oman who drop out of school and never graduate?
-Do you think they can survive without a Thanawiyah Ammah certificate and find success (like the examples we see in Western countries)? Or are the job regulations of Oman making it very hard for them to work without a high school diploma ( I heard that you can't work at the Petrol station nowadays without a Thanawiyah Ammah certificate)?
-Are high school dropouts, the ones who are most likely to be into drugs and drinking and bringing about social destruction or does this have nothing to do with it and it all depends on their character if they end up engaged in narcotic drugs and alcohol intoxication?
-Is it a prevalent problem that the Omani government should pay extra attention to? If so, how do you think it could be solved?

I think there are quite many who dropped out of school or got kicked out for many reasons :(

I know one guy personally who is a high school dropout and he's not doing well. He is still being supported by his family because there isn't much he can do. Hardly anyone would hire a dropout, and if they did it will hardly pay off anything. I am not sure about how supportive it is in Oman with students without Thanawiyah Ammah.

It could be a reason since they're bored and have nothing better to do but damage society and themselves. But it also depends on an individual's character and the way he's brought up.

I think the government is doing something; Omanization. The drivers should be Omani for example; you don't need a Thanwiyah Ammah certificate for that.

Well I don’t think we have so many but they are some who are not bothered to study but it’s not as common in Oman.

Personally I don’t think they can imagine I heard people coming from abroad with a masters degree and while being interviewed they ask them why they did so bad in grade 12 see I really don’t get it the person has a masters degree and still they are asking about grade12. Yeah Oman is defiantly making it harder for them to get a job.

I think it all depends on the person’s character and their up bringing you don’t have to have a high school certificate to know that taking drugs in wrong.

No comment lol
Ive heard the numbers here in Oman are increasing in some regions and decreasing in others.... Its very difficult to get a job without the certificate and if they dont have it I dont see how they'll ever achieve anything in their lives. We know a couple of ppl who have degrees and cant find jobs!
I dont know where you got the idea that high school drop outs in the West can be succesful - urban legend perhaps? But the truth is that in the UK ppl with Masters degrees are working as waitresses because theres such a shortage of jobs, so can imagine what hope someone without even a high school diploma would have?
I think the govt is doing what they can but perhaps they could really push, advertise etc the importance of education for all. Maybe that would help.

Drugs and bad habits has nothing to do with schooling

They should actually by making better schools...increasing extra caricular activities and sport activities

When I mentioned the west, I was referring to their lenient job regulations and the existence of minimum wage (paid by the hour). I doubt that in the west, you would need to graduate to get a job at the petrol station or as a driver. The fact that there is a high unemployment rate in the West is not what I am talking about here.
