Do you ever buy fresh flowers to keep around the house or your room?

Lately I've really been into this. I'll buy some flowers and place them in the vase on the window sill in my kitchen and it just automatically brightens up the place (and my mood, too!).

Flowers are pretty cheap where I am though. In Oman they're a lot more expensive to buy from flower shops :os

I don't really go out and buy flowers, I usually receive them as gifts and when I do I'd keep them in my room.

We often just cut them from outside and bring them in.

Daffodils are perfect for that...this is daffodil season:

ah lucky you....

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

There are daffodils growing in my compound now, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to cut and take them lol

Hil-ARIOUS! :p

I just sent that poem to a Person We Both Know!

I love it and all of Wordsworth's stuff...

but the end is the best:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

"that inward eye which is the bliss of solitude"

worthy of Shakespeare.

Take them, take them, and be brave!
Show the world that you're no slave!

:p

Who would mind? If anyone says anything, just start crying....

Then they'll get you a vase and make you tea.

it was the first poem we learnt by heart at secondary school and it's still with me.

Fine, I'll take them once I figure out what day the gardeners don't come to do their work :p

tell them 'jeff made me'. opt out with an insanity clause or something. get the anti-flower snatching detectives on his case.

I love the idea but wouldn’t buy one just for the thought of having to clean and throw them away in the garbage when they get all dried up.

I hate cleaning and the last thing I need is to add some thing else to the cleaning list.

I told him that. :hyper:

That's probably why I liked it so much.. :D

If it's spring, I just HAVE to have flowers on my desk or somewhere in the house.

We still have street sellers here who come with an old pram and sell flowers that they grow themselves.. They're cheap and they're beautiful.
This year, I've grown some of my own..including daffodils and I put those on my desk... but I do still buy some every week for other parts of the house.

This year I've started to focus more on embellishing the roof with them.. so I grow some I can cut, and some that I don't.

I used to do that when we had a Jasmine tree, I'd get a ladder and pick some, I miss that tree they chopped it off :(

I love flowers, but I don't really buy fresh flowers and have them in a vase at home. I just pick one or two sometimes and carry them around with me for the whole day. Was once called 'flower girl' at summer school :p

I wonder for what were -all those Arabic and Omani Tv advisory programs telling children not to cut flowers but enjoy them live in nature instead-?

You won't find flowers in my place unless it is a gift. It's doesn't do much for me unless it is a gift, so I don't see why I should waste my money on it when I can get some yummy drink or dessert instead which I am going to enjoy a 1000 times more :hyper:

Always! They're in the bathroom by the side of the jacuzzi :) Sometimes I'd get red roses, and seperate the petals and throw them on the bed cover.. gives a romantic atmosphere :)

yes.. but in real life.. those petals get stuck to your @ss and they stain the sheets when you squash them. :hyper:

hey! same here! mom throws some of the jasmine on our beds and puts the rest in small decorating bowls on our dressers. she also puts some in my father's kummah. :D
mom always smells like jasmine, even when she thinks she stinks after a workout or even after cooking. i've never met anyone in my life who smells like jasmine after cooking.

i'd love to keep flowers in my house, but they're kinda costly in Oman. i usually keep the bouquets i get in a vase in the living room, this way everyone gets to enjoy them. :cute:

fresia, narcissius and jasmine are my favourite flowers for their scent.

I like pretty bright colourful flowers, but I much better prefer not-so-pretty flowers that smell gorgeous.

Flowers are mood enhancers and do make the place more pleasing to the eye...even for a guy
