View Full Version : Shaping Eyebrows.
minerva 12-04-08, 12:48 AM from another thread. some of you do it, some of you don't because they are devout.
for those who believe it's ok, it can flatter your face shape and accent your eyes.
here's how to do it properly....
http://www.wikihow.com/Shape-Eyebrows
do you tweeze/wax/thread....or none at all?
for those who have never touched their eyebrows...do you sometimes get the urge to make your eyes look more attractive?
Endure Whisper 12-04-08, 12:50 AM I used to clean them before marriage myself by using a tweezer. After marriage, I started going to the hair dresser to get them done..
Dam3eti 12-04-08, 12:51 AM I have then threaded at a salon every 2 weeks. When I'm abroad for a long time I have them waxed, I love having them waxed it's much cleaner and faster and lasts longer. However I don't know of any salon in Oman that does that.
Superbia 12-04-08, 12:52 AM I usually thread my eyebrows, and yes I do them a bit too thin! :os But recently I haven't touched them in a while and it looks bushy.. But I can't be bothered anymore.. I'll leave them as it is until it actually starts bothering me :p
minerva 12-04-08, 12:52 AM i think this kind of eyebrow, with an arch, and still maintaining a degree of naturalness, is flattering..

I either thread or pluck with a tweezer when I just wanna remove a few annoying hairs. And yes I do shape them. I can't go on without plucking my eyebrows.
Endure Whisper 12-04-08, 12:53 AM ^ Ahhh Superbia,, me too. I am letting them grow now because I want to shape them thicker. So until they grow, whoever knows me and sees me, please excuse the eye brows!
Endure Whisper 12-04-08, 12:54 AM minerva,, that's the way I like them. Exactly :)
minerva 12-04-08, 01:02 AM minerva,, that's the way I like them. Exactly :)
that's the latest 'in' shape. gone is the time where girls had them too thin. a shape that looks natural but groomed. as seen on the valentino's 50th anniversary fashion show, on some celebs and on the latest uber model, agyness dean. it's time fashion respects nature and not the other way round.
Dam3eti 12-04-08, 01:03 AM Mine is similar to yours Minerva, it took a while to grow them think so I'm never going thin again!

oh lol that's not mine, i found that by google. mine's a bit similar but thinner cos i have fairer eyebrows.
Arabian Princess 12-04-08, 01:08 AM for those who have never touched their eyebrows...do you sometimes get the urge to make your eyes look more attractive?
I would be lying if I said that I never looked in the mirror and wished I would touch them a little bit .. but since I never did it, I am accepting my look as it and I think its easier for me since most women in my husband's family dont do it and they have even thicker eyebrows .. so I feel alright.
Its a temptation, but its also a blessing .. I feel extremly lazy to go to the saloon every other way to thread my upper lip let alone worry about my eyebrows where if you started doing it, you cant get yourself to stop.
AMARANT 12-04-08, 01:11 AM that pic looks nice Min
i never touched mine :cute:

yeps...like the pringles advert...once you pop you cannot stop!
when i first had mine waxed , i felt so good about my eyes i didnt' want to let the three weeks go past without having them done. makes make up look better, makes the whole face look better. don't need to go to extremes, just a tidy in the middle section (above the nose) and a small arch on the eye bit....
marianna 12-04-08, 01:42 AM wax and every time I have that done I see God.
minerva 12-04-08, 01:58 AM to lessen the pain....
i have a cream called 'emla'. doctors use it for minor procedures as in wart removal....
i put emla on my eyebrows before a wax and i don't feel it as much.
so i don't have to see God lol.

umm, i've neva done anythin to my brows, but im a man lol i dont need to. i feel sad for females, they go through so much torture!!
Libellula 12-04-08, 02:23 AM I have mine threaded at a salon once a month. I started threading them when I was 16 and now I hate how I look when they aren't cleaned up and shaped properly.
I hate getting mine threaded in the UK though, they always mess it up. Last month I ended up with one brow being slightly more arched than the other. Now I'm growing it out so I can have it fixed.
Kreeemy 12-04-08, 03:32 AM I have them plucked and threaded by my self at home.
I had to learn how to do them because i never found a saloon in uk that would shape it without really thining them.
toxic_honey 12-04-08, 04:14 AM wax rocks
its much cleaner and better looking
and i use a tweezer whenever i cant go to a saloon when am in rash or something
Diabian 12-04-08, 08:54 AM I like full eyebrows on girls!!
Dunno why, but I feel that once the girl loses her eyeborws "naturalness", she loses her "cuteness" as well!!
UmKhalid 12-04-08, 09:11 AM ^ Like on Brook Shields, she's BEAUTIFUL, but doesn't pluck!

Now that she does pluck, her eyes lost their beauty.
Diabian 12-04-08, 09:24 AM ^Oh brook was my teenage crash :D
I still love her, more than ever :)
I didn't touch mine at all though I don't know if it will stay that way. My mom keeps telling me that I should not touch them or else I will spoil them, but I am tempted to see how different I would look with my eye brows done - not much different I think because I don't have much shape in my eye brows anyways.

lovely eyebrows and eyes Lym
i think it depends on the girl's face
some look nice with thick brows, some with thin ones
i just hate the ones where the brows meet in the middle
-_-
WoLF DoLL 12-04-08, 01:52 PM ^ ewww yaa even on the guyz! :yuk:
minerva 12-04-08, 01:54 PM great eyebrows lym. very tidy.
brooke shields' eyebrows were groomed too ;) in a clever way.
i just cut some of the extra hair on the bottom.. other then that i havent tried.. n not really intending to.. i like how i am now.. i have bushy short eye brows.. but im content (http://www.englishsabla.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1063190&postcount=31)

UmKhalid 12-04-08, 10:50 PM Minerva, but it still doesn't look like the thin line many women like these days. It looks very natural, and I know many girls who have amazingly beautiful eyes Masha'Allah, and their eyebrows are not touched.

HEY HEY Terrorist!! :o:boo::o
UmKhalid 13-04-08, 08:38 AM I don't understand why girls want guys to shape their eyebrows. That's just too disgusting. Guys aren't supposed to care about these things, why change their nature?
Angel_Eyes 13-04-08, 08:42 AM I really would like someone to explain to me why on earth some woman can't do their eyebrows themselves?? why do they have to go all the way to the salon and have it done FOR THEM ? ya3ni ( i mean ) how hard can it be? really? Some can't style their own hair. some can't wax their own legs and arms. Some can't do their own make-up. i mean...ahhhh...i just don't get it. :bored: I'm sure a lot of money and time would be saved if some girls did it themselves. Isn't it better for them to be independant and know how to do it themselves?
I mean sometimes when i go to weddings, people ask me "who styled your hair and who did your make-up ?" or "who shaped your eyebrows because they look so perfect"? i just say i did it all myself..with a look on my face that says "me! who else ? duuuuh!" :os
their mouths just drop and their in shock like i've just said the most shocking thing. :mmhmm: And what i've noticed, the salons do a crappy job...especially for the eyebrows...:os they pluck TOO MUCH..it's horrible....! the men wont say anything to them because they know it would hurt their feelings but really they think it's ugly. And not only that but the thinner the eyebrows, the older you look (this is if you are young) but if you are old and you have thin eyebrows , then it tends to make you look younger.
As for the make-up...omg..ufff...it's like clown make-up! seriously, women, do you think it looks nice to have all those colors??:os all the purples and blues...agh!! The salons don't do a good job.
I'm not directing to specific people..i am just saying about SOME women so don't attack me :bored:
And as for the hair, depending on the style..ok..i understand that it can only be done in the salon but as for getting curles or getting it straightened, can't that be done by yourself? is it that women really don't know how to do it themselves and take care of their own beauty OR is it that they just go to the salon for fun??
I don't understand what's so beautiful about unibrows?! Many girls don't remove that hair between their brows cause they think it makes them look beautiful...it's hideous!
But I don't mind a guy having unibrows...it can look hot on some guys.
Angel_Eyes 13-04-08, 08:54 AM ^ you know, i totally agree with you !!! THANK YOU! GOSH! some say it's REAL NATURAL beauty to have a unibrow!! :os :yuk: oh god! please! Those people are brain washed. Some people told them it looks good so that they don't feel bad about themselves. And if she has a unibrow, she SHOULD take the hairs in the middle because from what i've seen, it makes her look like a man and that is just haram so in this case, she should remove the hairs.
But I don't mind a guy having unibrows...it can look hot on some guys.
Oh baybeh! you got that right :D  :XD:
Diabian 13-04-08, 09:04 AM some girls look nice with unibrows..
personal point of view!!
Angel_Eyes 13-04-08, 09:11 AM ^:o ha? what? ahh *stutters* :os okaaaay
FAITH86 13-04-08, 01:02 PM I didn't touch my eyebrows and I'm satisfied with the way they look though they're kinda thick.
Libellula 13-04-08, 02:24 PM I personally could never go back to not doing my eyebrows. I think I look hideous with natural brows, especially since I have thick, dark hair.
There really is no comparison..
Elvenblade 13-04-08, 02:35 PM ^ both pics look fine :p
as long as they arent joint in the middle >_<
minerva 13-04-08, 03:07 PM I personally could never go back to not doing my eyebrows. I think I look hideous with natural brows, especially since I have thick, dark hair.

i totally agree. they look so beautiful done. opens your eyes more. plus they are still thick and natural. good job!
Angel_Eyes 14-04-08, 08:04 AM i wish i could view the pictures you've attached, ,libby.
i think there is nothing wrong with tweezing if she has thick dark hair. it does look un-feminine...so in that case, it shouldn't be haram.
There are girls, however, who has a few hairs and it's thin and unnoticable...in that case, there is no reason to take the hair.
FLORENTYNA 14-04-08, 02:36 PM i have mine threaded every 2 weeks or 10 days.....I dont make them thin never...just clean
but everytime i do i feel guilt, I am gonna stop one dat:inno:
guys shape their eyebrows?? ok ..i dunno..but its too GAY to me !! :XD:
wahts irritaiting some gurls have perfect eyebrows and they shape them and god its much worse!!
SOME gurls are hot with unibrows ..!
even though..natural rulz :p
Threading/ plucking
my brows i used to do properly ( days of my khotba (engagemnet?) )
now mama wont do them properly just clean them, until i get married then she'll do em properly lol, but I soon learneed how to do em myself muahahahaa :P
I personally could never go back to not doing my eyebrows. I think I look hideous with natural brows, especially since I have thick, dark hair.

Uh-oh!
As well as giving us lucky people two lovely pics of you to look at, you decisively failed to prove your point! :p
No one could quarrel with you either way, but the untouched look a shade better than the shaped ones...

no way. i totally disagree. the shaped ones her eyes look more open, the look more sophisticated. she's got plenty of brow to play with. i think the 'done' pic looks fabulous.
In my house its a different story, mom thinks am too young to shape mine! :XD:
This is what they look like xD
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u233/Charm_047/eyes.jpg
^ you know, if you had as much mascara as the eye in your combo ,you'd have the same eye. :p really.. same shape and color.
yours are naturally shaped, mashallah. if i had your eyebrows, i'll probably never touch them. xD
hahaha, i got bit of lost hair on the lower brow part its annoying. i think i might start shaping them at some point.
Cinnamon Queen 28-04-08, 03:09 PM even while I'm abroad, I have to thread my eyebrows, or I wont leave the house! I looooove thin eyebrows.
