For those who are mothers (and those who wish to be) what is your favorite memory or anything else that comes to mind?

For myself I remember holding my daughter for the first time and just totally in awe over this little life I helped to create. She had the most expressive brown eyes, full head of hair, brown skin...I loved to hold her up to me and just smell her. :cute:

The day they were born. Holding them in my arms for the first time.
The smell of their necks ( i dunno why its just a special smell!)
The first time they said my name, smiled ran to me...
The way their little bodies seem to fit perfectly into my arms.
Holding their lil hands in mine.
Bedtime cuddles...... shall I go on? Everything about being a mom is awesome... watching them sleep...ooohhh I can just go on for days

I know :cute:

I remember the first time mine called me "mama" and I was like on cloud nine.

Just hearing those words:

"mama"

And teaching her how to walk at 11 months...I was so proud I took her to my friends and would plop her down and reach out my arms saying: "Come to mama!" and she would waddle to me....priceless.

When they look up at you and smile, that special smile just for mama...oohh think Im gonna cry! It makes it all worthwhile! :D

Endure, before you go chargin in to motherhood let me fill you in on the downside:

Sleepless nights
Leaking breasts - leakin everywhere incl in public!
Lil ppl pooping on your carpet, in your handbag, on your lap
Sleepless nights
Sticky fingers and snail trails on your clothes, sofa
Tantrums
did i say sleep depravation? :p
less sex - see above (its hard to feel sexy when you havent slept in days, youve got baby vomit on your shirt and u cant remember the last time you shaved your legs or brushed yr hair )

But honestly its all worth it when they cuddle you, or call your name or even when you see how very much they love you. :p:heart: wish i cld have 10

I think children are the best examples of unconditional love. My daughter and I have struggled allot since I am a single mother but you know it was worth it...to see the love she has for me, how protective she is of me...that she brags about her mother...she is a great kid and with her going on 20 I feel like I am the luckiest and richest woman on this planet.

The baby smell is the BEST...esp when they have a bath (and is soooo cute at the age of 8 months with those rolls of fat and they splash the water)...then when they put their arms around you and bury their face in your neck...GOD how can one put into words that feeling of utter Heaven???

Greatest things..

The moment I touched my daughter's head as she crowned and her head was being born.. a moment I will never ever forget. The joy through all the pain.

Going home and barely able to stand, I hugged her against me, and rocked her to sleep in a slow dance to a song that today brings her to tears..

The first time they smiled.. took the first steps .. their smell.. first words ..

Listening to them sing nursery rhymes..

but the best parts are the things they say .. the things they come up with that show you that innocent unconditional love that kids also have to you.

Daughter says... "smile mum, I'm taking a photo.."
"Oh love, I look terrible..."
"No you don't. I think you look lovely." and I really do look like a truck hit me ... and reversed. :hyper:

The way they would share even their most favourite chocolate.. "cos mummy doesn't have any.."

Or that time when I was pissed off cos I 'had nothing to wear'.. and the little one walked in with her folded dress.. "Here mummy, have mine."

Too many to mention really. I take an enormous amount of pictures and video clips.. trying to catch the funny moments and the unforgettable ones.

Being a mum is hard. But it is immensely rewarding. Every day, they give me atleast one reason to smile. And even though they drive me absolutely crazy sometimes, I can't imagine my life without them.

Those are adorable stories so cute.

I remember one time my daughter came into my bedroom. She was playing with a proceline clown (behind my back--she was a spitfire and could disappear like nobody's business) and her thumb was bleeding (she was about three) and said: "Look mommy I'm leaking!" Needless to say I took her to the ER where she got 3 stitches and mom almost fainted during the procedure.

I think the fact that one can make their own offspring is just magical! I can't wait to be a parent  Being able to raise them will be one major memory that will stick for lifetime, and comparing your kids from how they used to be and how they turn out.. Along with the role you've put into raising them.. All this is just beautiful!

LOL @ leaking.

The song I mentioned is "to love you more" by celine..
And once we were dancing to it (as I still do sometimes, pick her up and have our special "mummy-daughter moment" ) and she starts to cry at the part where she says, "Don't go.. you know you'll break my heart.." ..

I said.. "why are you crying hun?"
She said.. "Because I don't want you to die."
I said.. "WHAT?! What makes you think that?"
She said.. "Because if I break your heart, you'll die.. and I don't want you to.. I'll never go mummy .. never."

By the end of the song we were both in tears.. :hyper:

I love when little girls talk in that little girl voice. Makes me melt. I watch videos of my daughter when she was small..like in diapers and she is sucking on her toes or cooing...makes me want to reach right into that movie and pick her up.

When they mispronounce words - my daughter picked up the word faghaa (butt) but she says gafahtish instead of fagahtish. Or my son confusing english and arabic and saying I want chai tea or water maae as if they were one word. Flutterbys and wowers (flowers) - these are the lil moments that make me smile, make my heart soar and make me wonder why I didnt do this sooner..

I'm not a mother yet, but I can't wait to dress up my kids. I always stop when I pass by a children's clothing store. I'm already planning their outfits in my head lol.

Oh yeah and I want all my kids to look like my husband because he is just too cute and I wanna have mini ones just like him :) lol

Okay, that is all. I'll leave this thread before I embarrass myself even more!

I used to dress my daughter in bonnets and flowery dresses...when she was about a year old she wanted to put on her own shoes and that was a joy to watch.

you know how many kids in kinder and Yr 1 get asked 'what's your mummy's name' and they answer 'mummy' another kid goes 'wow cool even my mummy is called mummy'...some kids think a person's name is what others call them...can't really blame them.

my youngest one had such an episode with a friend of my husband's. his wife told her 'go give this to Richard'..she said 'he's not Lichard, his name is MATE' that's cos my husband calls him 'mate' all the time.

Oh, I can't wait to be a mother! Playing with them, looking at their clumsy self trying to walk and talk, the way they smile innocently when they see you and also the way they "shush" when you hold them tight. And like Libellula, kids stores are something else. They've the most adorable outfits! I think I am going to have a ball being their stylist from head to toe :hyper:

To the little one, mummy comes before my name.

So, let's say my name was thalia.. when I ask her what my name is, it's mummy thalia.

Some time ago, we almost lost her on the Gozo ferry.. I thought she was this him, he thought she was with me.. so from that day on, I made sure she knew her name and surname and my name and surname. And to ask a lady to 'find her mummy, cos she's lost'..

I brainwashed it into her.. :hyper:
