Both my close friends are getting married soon and I was thinking of throwing them a bridal shower instead of a bachelorette party. I need good ideas :)

The reason I am doing a bridal shower is because they both have religious cousins and sisters who must be attending the party so it has to be respectful to be able to fit within their boundries.

Anyway, so what can I do? I want ideas on how to plan the event and the kind of decoration to use for the event.

Good ideas are much appreciated!

What is the bride's favorite color and food. This can be a basis from which to start planning decorations, flowers, favorite sweets and appetizers (finger foods)....some basic bridal games.

They are two girls with very different tastes. So I told them it will all be upto me :p

Maybe find a mutual combo of the two tastes that way they compliment each other.

Well, one of them is very lively (loves the colors black and blue, fast food, jeans and a top is her style).

The other one is so girly. A barbie girl I should say and very feminie. Wears dresses, always has a hair style on, and is into red and pink! Her kind of food is steamed vegetables and water (not even fresh juices).

With the foods you can have samplings of both that way both tastes are covered. As far as colors you can find a way to blend the blue and pink say in balloons, napkins, if you decide to use table cloths the base cloth on one table could be blue then you take the pink tablecloth and lay it in a way that still shows the blue, reverse it on another table. Some suggestions. That way both girls will be respresented. Same as for flowers if you can find them in their favorite shades or types and make center pieces for them.

Thank you, yea I actually thought about it that way initially..

What about bridal games? What can we play? And what kind of gifts should I give out?

you can make a cute theme for the party like haiwi theme .the 60's theme or hmm Barbi theme for the pinki lover girl .. the cards should fit the theme meaning and you can add that the girls should wear anything goes with the theme.. lets say if some are very religious and dont take the scarf of abaya out they can wear scarfs that with pinki touch or so :/ *if they agreed* and made her a pink top with "The bride" or even a little crown to let her be special and have the barbi look lol..

about the food it can fit the theme also or you just can order one of these baskin Robins ice cream cakes and let them write on it something sweet or funny like the bride's cake! :/ lame huh

you can also have some games to add some fun.. :/

ahh its hard :os if i knew the girls better i would have better ideas :/

You can also choose varying shades of their favorite colors so that one color is not overwhelming.

For example have like a soft rosey pink, a lighter kind of pink, darker pink and for blues the same varying shades of blues etc.

Also, if they have something ultra favorite they love whether it be food, music, something cherished would be great to somehow include it.

an idea of mine...

get all the invited girls to get an old photo of your friend, (maybe her as a baby, or a childhood event with them together) put it on an a4 card, stick it on, decorate it and write something funny they remember or a message for the bride to be. all the cards will be bound by a pretty string and read aloud during the party.

over here i've heard of a girl doing a slideshow of pics of the bride to be, complete with funny captions. you can also film the rest of the girls saying something funny (or embarrassing) about the bride, and show it during the party.

toxic_honey
10-04-08, 05:57 AM
^^ ahhh i was going to say that!

sometimes slide shows are boring so if you typed each girl b4 the party comes and tell them to say what they think about it and what they would say! its like u interview them! you can gather her school friends and tell them to say what is the most school memory they remember about her or funny things that happened and they will never forgot ..

its so nice!

about the husbands! well if you know what they work you can also add that theme to the party!

i know a girl whos her husband is a doc so the theme was all about hospitals lol and they made her a nurse costume with that cute nurse hat and there were writting The Brid on that costume..

also in the cake you can write the doctors wife or the lawyer's wife or the engineer's wife :P and the cake should match the theme!

........................................

you can also let each girl write a letter a small one and put them into a box if you couldnt do the video interview and she reads each one and under each letter the girl name .. its also something she can keep .. they sell these boxes in lifestyle that has a box with very cute letters papers and envelops and some has also a cute matching note book which you can all write on ..

PS: is one of the braids "M" whos going to marry in OCT?

Okay I didn't have a bridal shower, mine was more or less a bachelorette party and I got gifts too (mainly naughty ones that had me cracking up!), but one thing that I really liked was that when we were opening the gifts, we all sat down in a big circle and I had to open and display all my gifts for everyone to see. It was a lot of fun.

One of my cousins was basically writing all the comments down in a notebook. What the gift was, who it was from, my reaction to the gift, what my friends were saying, etc.

Also, at the end everyone who attended wrote a little note for me in the same book. I have the book and it's nice to go over it. When I go over the part with details of the gifts I always crack up. I can't believe some of the things that people got me, or their suggestions of how to use them!! Hilarious :D
