What causes pain and cramps when women get their menstrual cycle?

I always wonder how and why?! What is it exactly that causes the pain?

From what I know cramps are caused by female hormones. There is info on the net about it. What I also heard and this happened to be true for me once a woman gives birth sometimes those cramps will simply go away or lessen because the shape of the uterus becomes different after having a baby and I no longer get those cramps.

That's certainly true with me.

After having kids, I hardly get any cramps at all. And before, I used to be doubled over in pain.. unable to go to school or work.

i suggest you go do a smear test so you clear your mind and get advice. menstrual pain could mean many things. it's true what marianna and thalia said, once you get pregnant, the menstrual pain dies off...at least for me :)

Beside using the usual pain killers, try this:

Discuss the Hyoscine tablets with your Dr, start taking them 2 days before the period starts & continue till the 3rd day, it shall be very beneficial, many benefit from it

All the best
