View Full Version : 1st Anniversary
Endure Whisper 29-03-08, 01:39 PM My husband and I are planning to go away on our first anniversary. For our honeymoon we went to Mauritius which was spectacular. It wasn't active at all; all romance; sun, sand, beach and pool  This time we're planning for an active vacation as well as a romantic gateway..
The whole trip is going to be 14~20 days; depends on where we go, and it will be in August (beginning to mid of the month).
We've cut down our options to 3 places. Please put in your suggestions and any comments; regarding the weather, place, etc.. We want it to be ideal :)
Option 1:
Japan (active vacation) + Malasiya-Langkwai (romantic gateway).
Option 2:
Around Europe (vacation and romance) = So far, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Holland (might add or remove places but basically Europe).
Option 3:
USA -- New York, California, Nevada (active vacation) + Mexico or Miami (romantic gateway).
What do you recommened? and if you were in my shoe, where would you choose to go from the 3 options provided above?
Arabian Princess 29-03-08, 01:51 PM I would go for option 2 because I am dying to go to spain :)
Diabian 29-03-08, 02:09 PM As its going to be in summer... maybe you should re-think;)
You can go to Australia (kangaroo; the only animal with a real pocket!!) and New Zealand (kiwi bird; the only bird without wings!!).
There you can have all the 4 seasons!!
And you will love the parks in Gold Coast;Dreamworld, Sea World, Warner Bros. Movie World..etc( weather at that time of the year will be like winter of Oman) :D
Shopping in Melbourne; the city it self won't be that cold.. but you can go skiing 2 hours outta city!!
Definition of New Zealand = Nature; don't miss Queenstown. (Skiing, jet boating, bungy jumping; just ∞ activities!!).. temperature; cold!
so ya!!
and by the way.. happy anniversary :)
If I was going alone with some guys, it would be Japan, but as a romantic getaway u need Europe.
You don't need an "Active" vacation with your hubby, for that yuo have Dubai right here! lol, go and enjoy the love central!
minerva 29-03-08, 02:30 PM europe all the way. you have to go to rome, florence, venice....ah drool....
Rossonero 29-03-08, 02:58 PM An advise, don't go to Italy during August. I tried and It wasn't that lively. That's when Italians go away for vacation so they close their stores, hotels etc.
NiGhTFaCe 29-03-08, 03:39 PM I would go for option 2 because I am dying to go to spain :)
Yes! Leave me in Sevilla or Andalusia in general & forget about me :D
toxic_honey 29-03-08, 03:51 PM well for me i would go to 1!
ya weird since i love italy
But in summer LOT of ppl go there so yeah
I have been to option 2 and I would recommend it for any couple or individual :)
cLueLess 29-03-08, 04:03 PM Option 1:
Japan sounds fun!
Option 2:
I haven't been to Spain and Italy, but Switzerland is beautiful. European summers can get pretty hot and suffocating, but the weather probably starts to cool down in August.
Option 3:
America is big and there's so much to do and see. If I take the trouble to go to the other end of the globe, I'd want to spend as much time there as possible. 14-20 days is not enough!
I'm torn between 1 and 2, but I think I'd go for the first option :)
Libellula 29-03-08, 05:18 PM I'd go for the first option as well :)
I wanna go to Japan someday - it's just so different and I'm sure it'll be an interesting experience. Also, since I went to Langkawi on my honeymoon, and it was perfect, I'd recommend it to anyone. You must go to the same resort I stayed at though, I loved it :) I want to go back on my first anniversary..
minerva 29-03-08, 05:21 PM ever considered somewhere like alaska?
Superbia 29-03-08, 05:28 PM Oh wow! 1 year already *sniff*sniff* Mashallah! I wouldn't go for Japan,it's just not your cup of tea, trust me. Too busy, too crowded, hmm.. A place you'd want to run away from as soon as possible!
Superfreak 29-03-08, 05:45 PM I would go for option 3, since there are loads of different places to go to in the states and i haven't been there.
Does this even need a question ? Europe all the way
Ah Switzerland
marianna 29-03-08, 11:22 PM Option 1 sounds good and in Malayasia you can find some pretty good deals. USA and Europe could prove to be pretty expensive.
I would suggest option #3. Those states you picked are just one of the beautiful states in the US. Plus, once you entered the United States, it would be very easy for you & cheap to move from one state to another. So you would have fun and get to visit as many states as you want, I guess...
UmKhalid 29-03-08, 11:57 PM I'd say Africa. It would be a very active vacation, you'll get to carry heavy things, cut wood and even help build houses if you find the right people. I believe it's a good way to get to know your spouse, and together you'll value life more and that will benefit your marriage in the long run.
And of course it will help you lose weight!
Not that you need to, I was referring to myself at that bit :p
marianna 30-03-08, 12:10 AM That sounds like a wonderful idea UmKhalid....I think it is so wonderful that Endure and her husband are sharing their 1st anniversary in such a wonderful way.
UmKhalid 30-03-08, 12:13 AM And there's also Doulos: http://www.doulos.org/
But you'll have to be free for two months. Ship goes around the world doing charity.
If you want to experience something very different and special, then Japan is definitely the way to go - not many people from our part of the world visit Japan, so it is kinda unique. However, I would personally choose Europe since I've never been to any other country in Europe except Britain.

Not really our thing :os
its gonna be summer.. so i dont know.. Malaysia is so out of the way n Europe coz there will be people everywhere!
japan isnt so invaded with tourists yet so i think id go with option 1 without malaysia
n option 3 is just great, iv always thought a get away through out the states is gonna be fun.. like a rroad trip all around ..
i suggest option 1. i'd definitely want to go there for my anniversary.
Japan is great for an active vacation, and Malasiya sounds lovely for a romantic get away.
I say pay the US a visit!
Endure Whisper 30-03-08, 04:48 PM ;1054936']I say pay the US a visit!
We've been to the US.. but not together. I've been to Texas, Chicago and Miami.. and he's been all around, mostly! But he wants to go back again to show me his school, where he lived, his friends, etc.. but we don't know if it should really be on our first anniversary.
Muscati 30-03-08, 09:20 PM By the time August comes around the Euro will probably be close to two dollars. With the OMR bound to the dollar, Europe has become unbearably expensive.
Go for the Far East or the US.
