Unlike the products we use and find astonishing and recommend them to others, what are the products that you've used and caused you harm?

I used Himalya Herbals Conditionar once and my hair just fell off instantly :omg: I am still bald in some areas and I have different hair lengths on my head! :inno: Fortunately, I have thick and lots of hair so the baldness isn't so obvious.

Did you have any bad experiences?

^^ can we include drugs??

the hospital used to give me Trouma (sp?) drug before my laser sessions, and it caused me temporary paralysis at the night of the session! :os

then they started giving me Olfen (sp?) and it worked better

When Amr Diab released his album Laily Nahary in summer 2004.. He appeared with Golden-blond-ish highlights on hsi hair.. and he appeared darker than ever!
So I went to the market.. got me this temporary golden gel .. and i woud use it on daily basis to get these highlights! and at the end of the day, I would wash it out.
before that, I had never used gel or any hair products before... and imagin starting to use temporary dye everyday!! my hair started to fall!!
Since then I have never been able to get my dense hair back even after stopping a month later!!

MAC compact powder, I used use this 2-3 years back and loved the coverage and the look it gave my skin, however after a while of using it I started getting red rashes and small red spots. I stopped using it ever since.

Don't know if this one is horrible or not. Was in the hospital for a week and the doc had me on some drugs that had me seeing emerald dragons and my mom holding a bear sitting in a chair across from my bed. I can still remember that to this day.

Your hair loss has 99.9% nothing to do with the conditioner.

There are a number of causes for alopecia. It was probably some other cause like stress or a fluctuation in hormones.

I know stress makes me lose allot of hair. I have a ton of it so I don't see any bald spots. I believe normally we lose about 100 strands a day but not sure.

yes.. roughly.

Usually hairloss is due to something going on INSIDE the system..not outside on the skin.

Unless it is a cream the strength of a depilatory .. but that's not hairloss. That is the breaking away of the hair.

hummmm.. i bought a shampoo ( nizoral, it ws from a doctor for dandraf ) and didnt chek the expiry date.. every time i used it my hair got soo dry n so tangeled that i cant even comb it! it became so emj3ad ( rough ) that i felt that everything was just 1 plomp on my hair!

then i discovered that there was an expiry date :P

I remember one time I attempted to straighten my wayward locks by doing it myself with a kit meant for African American hair texture. My hair ended up so straight and lifeless I had to deal with a shorter haircut and had also put tons of hair cholestrol to try and bring it back to life. I never did that again! :yell:

Oh god! You're lucky it didn't completely fall off! That stuff is only meant for afro hair and only meant to stay on for 5 minutes. you can't even apply it that fast!

It's called hair relaxer. It totally kills the hair. The hair feels like chewing gum when wet, right?

Well, that was just one time.. I used the conditonar for the first time, my hair fell.. I used another conditionar the next day, and I was okay.. I am pretty sure it was the conditionar. If it was stress, my hair would keep on falling anyway, but it didn't.

Mac studio fix agghhhh. I started wearing it when I was 17 and I was breaking out really badly. I thought it was just bad teenage acne. I had like three cystic pimples a week and smaller black heads/clogged pores.

I tired various treatments to clear the acne. I was on retin-a , oral medications from the dermatologist and trying better face washes... Nothing has helped....I had to get a facial at least once a month just to clear out my pores.

The foundation looked great when freshly applied, but by the end of the day it turned orange on me so I switched to another brand. After weeks from using a different brand, I noticed dramatic improvement on my skin. No more oily face, no more acne, clogged pores or blackheads.

I am really amazed that my once flawless skin at age 17 became a mess because of MAC.

^ Yes.. I still do :(
And you've stopped using it?

I'm asking cos it doesn't make sense..

For a conditioner to make your hair fall out, permenantly..

It's likely that something happened to you, inside.. which is the reason for the hair loss.. and it coincided with the applying of this conditioner..

Sometimes we blame things we see, when the real causes are ones we can't see. ;)

^ Of course I stopped using it. I went to the hospital the same day. They had blood tests run (I don't remember what test exactly), and my results came clean.

I have very short hair where my baldness occured. It's not that it's still bald.. my hair fell (a big bundle) and now it's growing back.. we're talking about 8 months ago..

Ok, so if a chemical somehow got into your blood stream, it would have show up in your blood test..

Also, in 8 months, if the hair simply snapped off.. your hair should now be about 4-6 inches long.

If it is not, then something did happen on the inside. Keep an eye on it.. cos there's a chance it wasn't the conditioner. Something else could have triggered it... and might again. So don't rule out the possibility of it NOT being the hair product.

Loreal Professional and Kerastase shampoo both for dry hair made my scalp really itchy and my hair colour looked a bit dull. I also noticed that whenever I use those two shampoos my hair would fall off in a crazy way. I love their conditioners and masks though. It moisturizes my hair very well.

My hair grows so slow.. so I understand the reason behing it still being short; not very short but shorter than the rest definately.. because my hair is short to begin with.

But I didn't have problems ever since I stopped using it, and not even before that.. one minute I use it, my hair falls, the next minute I stop using it and use something else, and my hair doesn't! I think I am better of ruling out any other reason.. atleast, psychologically :cute:

As a teenager, I started using this natural deodrant called shabba. it was a rock, and we smash it into powder. My sisters and mom used and it was good for them. When I started using it I started getting alergy reaction.

Then, two years back my sister found the same ingrediant manifactured in UK. Being keen on using natural products, I started using it again thinking when its manifactured I might not have the same reaction. But I did!!

Umm..I'm used to threading my face, but once I was in a hurry and wasn't really up for the amount of pain the threading gives me, so she told me to wax and it's better bla bla..I waxed still I went through such agony !

When I was done, she put rose water and ice and Clarinse cream in my face, 1 hour later I got these small pimples all over my face and they were so red, like some kind of a rash! It stayed for like 2 weeks! Ever since then I would rather bleach than wax ever again!
