Saudis to retrain 40,000 clerics (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7308040.stm)Saudi Arabia is to retrain its 40,000 prayer leaders - also known as imams - in an effort to counter militant Islam.

What will they teach different?

Take a simple difference..
While in past some Imams would encourage their fellows to go to Jihad in Afghanistan and Shishan... they have changed their view about it after 9/11.

That's for the ones who're gonna retrain them to decide.

Haven't you read your article ?!

Saudi clerics have long been accused of encouraging Saudi youth to join global jihad and of inciting hatred of non-Muslims.

Nearly 1,000 imams have already been sacked over the past few years.

The Saudi royal family has come under increasing pressure - mainly from Washington - to change religious textbooks and to rein in militant clerics.

That's why.

I'd like to see the imam's in Europe, especially in the UK sacked and replaced by non-saudi non-wahhabi imams.

I wonder who will retrain them? Will they be part of the Wahhabi establishment? Where will the retrainers come from and who will choose them?

Actually the Wahabi movement in Islam which is called Ahl Al-Hadith , is a movement that has disregarded the whole Islamic legal and juristic tradition, and has lead to the breeding of all this intolerance and bigotry. I suppose they have now realised that their lack of respect of Islam's legal tradition has now backfired and have resulted in terrorists that have stripped Islam of its humanism and it being a universal relgion.

Finally, some people are coming to their senses! :p

You think? I think the power these people have on thier society and how thier society infulance others is not making them come back to thier senses. There are some advancement but I dont think its enough.
