Any of you read the above free weekly magazine/newspaper? If so, how do you find it? Is it in better class than its rivals i.e. the week or Hi?

Your thoughts please.

It's okay but I like The Week and Hi more!

I found it once in a supermarket. It's in the same level as H! I suppose...

I have never found it anywhere, so can't really say anything except, it should be distributed to more places perhaps.

Never heard of it until now. Where is it distributed and is it private owned or governmental?

Its easier to read and is made of superior paper, but H! and TheWeek are much more rich when it comes to content. But Y is cool too, but they might need to distribute it better!

I agree with sting with regards to the distribution

But I enjoy Y more than the week (which is basically an ADs paper now) & H! which is so messy to me

The Week is better then H! but H! has more news and more information but so messy...
The Week is simple but it contains information about Oman only...

Well i dont read english magazines alot but if i saw any of them i wld read it its ok with me dosnt make any diffreince but i like the week more!

It is a free glossy magazine that appears every Tuesday. Like "the week" that appears on Wednesdays and "Hi" on Fridays. You can get it from any big mall or shell filling stations. It perches on board with big "Y" sign.

Easier to Navigate, since there are alot of pictures and space between Articles...

Light topics are there... more like a small light snack which i like.. i dont have to concentrate while reading during waitng a friend at a coffee shop

Most wanted to know in Muscat Events happened, happening or to come are there and most of all with PICTURESSSS incase you missed it :p

Checked it out few days ago, it seems quite decent.. But more of a magazine rather then a newspaper, nothing beats the Week.

they gave us free mugs and T-shirt once at 2nd cup :)

The articles in Y are much better than in the other two. Y seems to have more focus on Oman and what’s happening here whereas the other 2 (esp. The Week) give me the decided impression that I'm living in India. Did I get lost? I’m sure the sign said Muscat….

My main complaint with all 3 of these weekly papers is the level of English - to be blunt - it's awful! The grammar, the vocabulary and the general writing skills of most of these "authors/ journalists" is atrocious. Its such a pity that these easily accessible sources of English language are in such an awful state. Every time I read them my hand starts itching to pull out the red pen and start correcting! Perhaps the editors could make a little more effort to check the language before printing this gooblygook English before it perpetuates this awful English any further? Such a pity!

I like the glossy paper Y's made of. H! and The Week are pretty messy to hold and read. I also found it more Omani-based compared to the other two.

Remember my previous post on working on the quality of English used in print media in Oman..... Well, I just wanted to share this with you from this weeks "Y"

ROFL! Did you spot the mistake? ROFL ... "coma"

A coma is a sleep-like state in which a person is not conscious. Kinda like the proofreader perhaps? Uh I think the word youre looking for is "comma"

It was so funny I just had to share! I love reading the Y but really people, lets make an effort with our use of the English language

Does someone have a contact number or email for this mag? Ive tried the addresses they list but my mails just keep being returned - we have now moved on from using awful English to using foul language.

The Work editor mentions "puking" numerous times in his article - Yo dude puke is not a word we use in polite conversation

And last week they used the word "crap" - you should get your mouth washed out with soap.
