It's not like this image is the clearest of images of The Last Supper. But it was interesting what they had come up with in The Da Vinci Code about Mary Magdalene being originally painted in a position to suit having her head rest on Jesus' (PBUH) shoulder.

All I can pretty much think of now...

shamsery why do I have a feeling there's more to this thread than you just posting that image?

Well, it's a fresco, a painting made into wet plaster.

Since the plaster has become damaged over time, the condition of the picture has deteriorated.

This coming Thursday is Holy Thursday, which is the night of the Last Supper....

Oh... Holy Thursday which the last supper was held on, then comes Good Friday and then Easter, which if I'm not mistaken celebrates the crucifixion of Jesus (PBUH).

Have I linked them correctly Jeff?

The Last Supper, showing Jesus, at the center, saying to his disciples, "One of you shall betray me"
One disciple is painted in darkness. His face is in the shadow of another, and he leans back, nervously holding a bag of silver. This disciple, Judas, is the third face to the left of Jesus.

On a close inspection there is a single disembodied hand behind Judas wielding a knife, suggesting a stab in the back.

She gave birth of a daughter. Jesus blood.

Yes, yes, and you just ruined the ending of the movie The Da Vinci Code for those who haven't watched it yet...

Then we shall move?
Can we please move on, with all due respect dear shamsery this is too slow paced, but I guess this is how it's done in Religion Sabla huh?
Who's reply are we waiting for? Where's Jeff?

I'm sorry, excuse my impatience. I think I just got what you're trying to say.
The Last Supper is supposed to depict Jesus (PBUH) along with his twelve disciples, or so I understand.

Luke refers to a number of people accompanying Jesus and the twelve. From among them he names three women: "Mary, called Magdalene, ..." ... Mary Magdalene is the most well-known of the disciples outside of the Twelve.
Source: Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disciple_(Christianity))

I find it a bit contradictory.

And according to the painting, Mary Magdalene actually is one of the twelve disciples.

LOL @ academic discussion

What perfect timing for attempt #2,381 of the "Lets-discredit-Christianity-by-using-crazy-theories-by-druggies-and-fiction-novels Society" to academically discuss something such as a painting.

Keep up the good work.

Answer:

Yes , Shamsery is doing an unpleasant job.

But he is not linking rather describing how you and us respect Jesus of Nazareth.

You refute those claim (Not made by shamsery) if fail , take the help of Last testament.

Don’t put me in the line of fire?
What will you do , if I ask about the daughter of Jesus?

Lets, see, we have the Holiest feast in Christianity coming up in a week,

And we have posts like :

Jesus was a drug addict.
God the Father is a homosexual pedophile.
God is a black man.

and now...

Jesus had an adulterous relationship with Mary Magdalene.

Keep it going guys, don't cry 'disrepecting Islam' when the chickens come home to roost.

We just wish to know , what is truth?
So...you don't know what's the truth yet?
You don't know that there's no way possible a prophet of God could commit adultery. You don't realize that all the 'DaVinci Code' theories that you're suggesting were completely argued against numerous times on this Sabla?

It's a nice painting of course...DaVinci's a master though I prefer his Madonna on the Rocks (if I got the name right), much more interesting.

I doubt whether Shamsery has read the DaVinci code, or if he's watched the movie...if it made it to his country at all. Someone gives him a bit of hearsay and he posts it here for our fun of course.

2 Peter 1:16 (King James Version)

16For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

What is the name of the daughter of Jesus Christ?

Jeff

I think Shamsery has heard this Da Vinci theory and he's interested in it, that's all. Just curious how we might answer the ideas.

Myself, I don't think the idea that this picture includes Mary Magdalene is reasonable.

St. John is called, "the Apostle that Jesus loved" in his own Gospel and is frequently next to Jesus and reclining on his breast in pictures. He is understood to be young and to have a very close relationship to Jesus.

Renaissance paintings often portray him as a young man with long beautiful hair and features that we would consider feminine. That was the fashion of male beauty at the time. And you find this in almost all Renaissance paintings of the Apostle John.

If that is Mary Magdalene, where is John? :p Because the Twelve all need to be there; that is the way the Last Supper was.

Here is a little piece on artistic portrayals of St. John in the Renaissance that includes some other examples from other artists too.

(From Jeff) Thursday in Holy Week is called Holy Thursday or Maundy Thursday. On Holy Thursday, we celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. The night before He was betrayed, Jesus celebrated the Passover Meal with His Disciples. He took bread, blessed it and broke it and said, “Take This and eat It, This is My Body, Which will be given up for you.” When supper was ended, He took the cup filled with wine, blessed it and said, “Take this, all of you, and drink from it. This is the Cup of My Blood. The Blood of the New and Everlasting Covenant. It will be shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. When you do this, remember Me.”

Jeff has done a nice job of explaining Holy Week so maybe we can close this thread.
