So we all probably heard the new news about new Hayyak Rates,
Its really exciting, Now the compatetion in pricing will start between Nawras and OmanMobile!

New Hayyak's Rates:

55 Bzs for first 60 Secs and 27.5 Bzs for every additional 30 Secs (Peak h)
45 Bzs for first 60 Secs and 22.5 Bzs for every additional 30 Secs (Off Peak)

And as for Nawras Rates:

Price per minute during off-peak hours**
39 Bz

Price per minute during peak hours***
55 Bz

So what do you think guys, would Nawras Customer's port out to OmanMobile or will they still be committed to Nawras?

Would you Change from Nawras to OmanMobile if you're a prepaid user?

How do you think this would benifit OmanMobile in the market?

I am planning to get post-paid line soon. I will still keep my Hayyak for the fact that its far more stable specially when it comes to roaming. But yes, it is very costly.

I am also thinking of trying out the 3G internet at once, thats why I would go for Nawras.

As for prepaid, either way, it won't matter. I will stick to the Hayyak simply because the pre-paid with Nawras is similar.

Haven't Hayyak's prices always been like that?
And I got excited, thinking it's finally going to get better :bored:.

3G will be with Oman Mobile soon.

Oman Mobile changed the system of charging the minute after the first minute, so its charging for every 30 seconds instead of 60 seconds. But, this been done like long time back. Its not a new thing.

I got Oman Mobile post/prepaid, plus to Nawras postpaid, though I don't use the Nawras unless I want to make international calls to this specific country, because its cheaper than Oman Mobile.

If there was a reason to switch from Nawras to Oman Mobile, so its because of their call center, where you might wait for 40 minutes so you get an answer, though I never called them.

I just checked the newspaper time back, & I found this offer from Oman Mobile, where for the off peak its 39 Baiza instead of 45 Baiza, though the offer will be up to May.

Usually when there is an offer, they put it in the first page, where they don't change the information inside because this will remain for a couple of months.
The tariff of Hayyak, http://www.omanmobile.om/english/hayyak_c.jsp

Nawras maybe should change the way of charging per minute as Oman Mobile did.

The TRA(Telecommunications Regularity Authority) made it clear that no third mobile operator coming soon, as they have no enough frequency.

27.5 baizas per 30seconds means 55baizas per minute...no difference

nawras still the cheapest...and the best...

Its different in terms of counting the minutes, the first minute is 55 Baiza, for the second, if you are less than 30 seconds so its 27.5, where you pay 55 Baisa after the 30 seconds.

With Nawras its 55 Baiza for the first minute & 55 Baiza for the second, there is no half of the minute.

Lets say your call was for one minute & 20 seconds, with Oman Mobile you will 55 Baiza for the first minute & 27.5 for the 20 seconds, thats mean 82.5 in total.

With Narwas, it will 55 Baiza for the minute & 55 Baiza for the 20 seconds, so its 110 Baiza for the call.

Do you see where is the difference now?!

In UAE, Du charges per seconds starting from the first minute.

Etisalcom provides VoIP(Voice over IP) services, & VoIP so far in Oman isn't permitted by the TRA. So its funny this piece of news :p

Oman mobile has played it the smart way, it is always better for the customer to divide up the charges/minute..
I think NF's post explains it all in simple mathematics ;)
