So I started having these awful pains everytime I yawn or swallow food. The pain is not in the center of the throat but to the left side of it, closer to the ears.

It's really annoying me. At first I thought it was a sore throat or a cold symptom so I had strepsils and redoxon, but that did not help. The pain is still there and it's really annoying.

I was told it could be tonsils.. But I tried opening my mouth wide open but couldn't see anything abnormal in there. Could it really be tonsils?

It just started yesterday and I usually visit the doctor 3 days after anything wrong has gone wrong (it's just a habit I feel good to follow).. any idea what that could be, sabla doctors?

I am not a doctor, but I want to say that I used to have the same symptoms, its painful and really annoying some told me I might be suffering from something called Thyroid gland, and this is as I heard not a good disease, but I went to al shatti hospital the doctor first was worried if I had it but after checking up on me she said I don’t have it, I asked her about it. I don’t remember what causes it exactly but she said the treatment takes long time; she said each person has 6 glands , 3 in the left and other 3 in the right side, she also mentioned its close to the ears. I don’t want you to get worried or scare you but I think you better go and check cuz I remember she told me also she advices the patient to come and check as soon as he\she noticed the symptoms . In sha2 allah there is nothing bad and its just as you said a sore throat.

It could be an ear infection or something to do with the eustation tubes. Have you tried any pain relievers, like ibruprofen, because is should reduce swelling if there is any inflammation.

(I've had lots of ear infections)

A couple of days ago my throat started hurting also, first was a tickle in the back and now hurts and my voice is a tad hoarse. Sounds like something is in the air germ wise.

Well, it slowly started fading this afternoon and has disappeared completely! Thank God! I hate visiting doctors and going to the hospital.. but I'd still like to know the cause and what possibly could it have been!

Mine still hurts and glad urs is doing ok. What is funny is last night one of my cats Simba, would do this weird meowing trill when he heard me coughing. He does that when people sneeze or cough. He cracked me up so hard that it is difficult to feel sick when you really are.

is that a new kind of actifed? i swear by that medicine, i have it in yellow, red and green. good to clear up colds before the need of antibiotics sets in.

There is a virus running around. I was fine until I ate this lime at a resaturant. I saw a YouTube video where it says do NOT eat limes or lemons at restaurants because they are chocked full of germs. Some people did random testing at different places and these items came up positive for a slew of germs. I was like ????? with my brain when I ate a lime and totally forgot. I was fine, heathy before I ate that thing. Did not have a cold in years. ARGH!

^ Oh!!!! Poor you.. I hardly get cold and flu, and when I do, it's TERRIBLE! My brother on another hand is used to cold; 3/4 of his life is spent blowing his nose !!!

I think having a stuffed nose is the worst. At night you want to breath and have to through your mouth. You wake up with such dryness! ACK!
