Not sure if this has ever been done before here, but how about we hold a monthly drawing competition, just like the combo or poetry competition.

The way it goes is a word will be chosen, for example "Shadow" and participants will have a certain amount of time to conjure the best image that they feel fits the word.

The image can be hand drawn or digitally drawn, as the participant choses, and winners can be picked on the originality of the drawing they come up with.

I know there's alot of talents out there, and am looking forward to seeing what images people can create from just a word :)

So, what do you guys think?

jk, i think it's a really good idea, it will encourage the members to draw more, instead of waiting till they are in the mood to draw and opena thread...

(there's however the "artist of the month" award, but it's v general, and it's not a competition)

The number of members who can actually draw in this forum are very limited (p.i.b? Tee? Angel eyes? me?..whom else?) which is why I never held such competition. We used to have a visual art competition every month or two with themes such as 'design an album cover' and so on..and even that slowly died, which is why I eventually turned it to an 'artist of the month' award where I personally pick a winner for over all contribution to that section.

I'll see what can be done and maybe we can give this another try.

i think it doesnt depend on how many people will participate. It will surely give a higher hits rate, maybe even a slight, these participating things are very interesting for the ones who take part AND the people who just like to see different things. Its good business, can provoke ppl to start to get in good terms with their artistic sides, as fun as it is; more of a fun factor will be added to the armoury.

I say GO for it! lol! (even though I suck in hand drawing, but lemme try Illustrator!)

True that the number of people who can really draw is limited, but as Riv said, members may become enticed to participate, coz it's quite fun, and discover their hidden talents.

In terms of judging the best drawing, I think we should take into consideration the idea of the drawing more than the actual drawing itself, that makes it a bit fair to the people who can't draw very well.

ok how about giving a theme, and instead of making it into a competition , it will be a sort of visual discussion of the theme...each poster will give their views. i can't definitely compete with the likes of nabhan, penny, angel and ttt....but i could try. maybe out of all the tries there could be one winner and comment for the others out of competition.

Good idea though am not into drawing lol but since it's a PIB idea then am with it :D .. I mean good to see some members compete in drawing this will develop their skills in drawing and our interest in it too.

Where is it? I can only see a poetry one but no drawing one..
