View Full Version : Male or Female Doctors
Endure Whisper 08-03-08, 03:16 PM When you visit a doctor, do you feel comfortable towards doctors from your gender or the opposite gender?
I feel comfortable towards male doctors; opposite gender. I don't know why that makes me feel more comfortable, but I just feel good and in safe hands.
What about you? Is it very important to you that you request for the doctor you want to see?
How about if the male doctor needs to touch private parts of the woman?
Endure Whisper 08-03-08, 04:40 PM I still feel comfortable with male doctors. I can't stand women touching me!
Libellula 08-03-08, 04:57 PM It's not that I mind a male doctor but if I had the option to choose, I'd prefer a woman.. However, if let's say the best doctor for something particular I'm looking into is a guy, I'd go for him..
I prefer Male Doctors .. Same Gender
But when it comes helping me out physically .. I prefer female nurses >> opposite gender
UmKhalid 08-03-08, 05:14 PM Depends of course. If needed I'm okay with male doctors. There were women in my family who even had male doctors help them give birth, because at the time, there were no free female doctors.
Doctors don't really think 'Oh! I'm looking at a woman!' like normal men would think. They're used to it. That's why no woman should marry a gynecologist :p
Female doctors for sure, unless as Libellula said, the best doctor around is a male, then I would definitely go for him.
marianna 08-03-08, 05:50 PM I had to deal with a woman doctor yesterday and she made me MAD....am like thinking: "LADY (using the term loosely I was pissed) "CAN'T you TELL I am NOT feeling well???????????????????????"
Superfreak 08-03-08, 05:53 PM I don't prefer one over the over. I would go for whomever is the best in a particular speciality.
Dam3eti 08-03-08, 07:41 PM I guess it depends on why I'm seeing them. If I was pregnant or to give birth, there's noway I'm going to a male doctor.
I think its absolutely inappropriate for a Muslim women to give birth with a male doctor and there is female doctors around ..

The same as Libellula.
NicoBambi 08-03-08, 09:24 PM the one that give me a good treatment :p
minerva 08-03-08, 10:04 PM i've had both male and female doctors examining me.
my gynaecologist is a male doctor, i've been to female ones as well.
they are so professional and good at their job that they made me choose them, because of their knowledge and profesionalism not because of their sex.
toxic_honey 09-03-08, 06:53 AM I still feel comfortable with male doctors. I can't stand women touching me!
:os huh! so you prefer a man touching you! lol

PrinceofArabia 09-03-08, 10:02 AM I still feel comfortable with male doctors. I can't stand women touching me!

Endure Whisper 09-03-08, 10:25 AM :os huh! so you prefer a man touching you! lol
Surprisingly, yes. Even during my wedding preparations, I did not let anyone do any body scrubs or hamam maghrabi or any of these body treatments for me. I've done them roughly for myself and then my husband did them for me after marriage.
I wish I was your doctor:) I will change my profession:think:...nurse plz bring Endure Whisper in lol:p
Silly :dev:
EvilFire 09-03-08, 10:35 AM Only Hot tall trendy softy girls allowed to check me
AMARANT 09-03-08, 02:51 PM when it comes to sensitive places, i prefer females, dunno why, i dont like the idea of a guy checking me :o
but in other cases, doesnt matter, would prefer a hottie female...
when it comes to sensitive places, i prefer females
Of course you do :dev:
************
Gender has nothing to do with it, as long as I get good treatment.
Ah I don't mind anything both genders are fine by me.
FAITH86 09-03-08, 11:50 PM I don't mind both, but in some special cases I prefer female doctors..

Ok with these things I agree I don't like being touched by women, but for medical treatments I can't imagine a male doctor touching me, it's totally inappropriate specially with female doctors around. Why do you feel safer with a male doctor, do you feel they are better doctors in general?
Like minerva I've had both female and male gynea's.
I understand EW, because the first time it felt a bit "ew" to be internally examined during pregnancy by a female gynea.. but in the end, it was a woman who had the most 'compassion'.. and that's probably because she's been through it all herself and knows what it FEELS LIKE. I felt the male gyneas were a little too rough and cold. Too often did I feel like a child recepticle rather than a person .. a patient.
Male doctor, 1st pregnancy @ 38 weeks:
"My back hurts alot"
"Well that's normal in pregnancy"
"Oh wow. Thanks. That's news. NOT!"
Female doctor 2nd pregnancy @ 38 weeks:
"My back hurts alot"
"Hmm, it could be sciatica.. is it becoming a problem to get about and go up and down stairs?"
"Yes, actually.. it's come to a point where I can't even sleep."
"I might suggest bedrest now and induction at 40 weeks if it's gotten so bad..avoid blah blah blah...."
I'd still see a male doctor if he was good.
It depends, but I honestly, prefer male doctors sometimes,.
but I want a female doctor to deliver my baby. lol
dam3t-malak 10-03-08, 01:52 AM Well when its something sensitive ofcourse i would go to a female doctor. I cant imagine a Male doctor checking me. But if its something general then i wouldnt mind. i would just mind if its a sensitive case.
Endure Whisper 10-03-08, 09:39 AM Why do you feel safer with a male doctor, do you feel they are better doctors in general?
Yes, that's one reason.. and the other reason, I just feel comfortable with men, more than women.. I feel protected around men. I mean I've grown up with brothers only (no sisters) and I have more male friends than female. Maybe that's the other reason?! It's the way I've turned out to be.
Angel_Eyes 10-03-08, 09:46 AM Honestly...i hate doctors...i hate going to the hospital...even when i am sick..i just stay at home...i prefer to NOT go...
BUT if i must..:mmhmm: i'd rather see a female doctor......
if there are no female ones ..then i will see whoever is available!!
~ Male doctors, more patient, more smilling, sence of humor, quick and explain in baby steps.
~ Female Doctors, Can speak about body problems openly!
conclusion: i prefer males but i go to females ;)
Female doctors for sure, unless as Libellula said, the best doctor around is a male, then I would definitely go for him.
same here, or if no female doctors were available at the moment.
