From what I know, you can send an SMS with your seat number to 90200 if you got Oman mobile (not sure for nawras) and you can get your scores??

Oh congrats dear! :D Don't feel bad. Work harder in this semesterm you still have got the time to do a lot. My score in the first semester wasn't any good, I worked harder the second semester and got a real good score!

I had jsut read in the newspaper about the marks n this is what it said:
the rate of success in general ceritificate of general education and its equivalent examinations in the first term is 83.70 percent for general certificate(grade 12 ) and 86.96 percent for grade 12 bilingual(me n crocodilo)

They make HARD questions that no one ever saw and sometimes TEACHERS say it wasn't supposed to come or they can't solve the question.

Chemestry is NEVER easy or normal... it is ALWAYS hard even the people who LOVE chemstry do bad in it..

The markings are never "accurate" therefore they made a rule saying:
"pay 5 r.o and you can check your paper"


If they were doing everything in the right way there wouldn't have been mistakes EVERY SINGLE YEAR!

I got 80% :(. Chemistry affected my average really bad. On the bright side, I got 100% in Elective English and 95% in English haha! xD

You don't necessarily need to get high grades in Thanawiya amma to get a scholarship. :p .. Some people I know didn't study at all last year and they got in 70's and they still managed to get a "full" scholarship from the government to study abroad. ;)

That has ALWAYS been the case.

And believe me, if I was in the interior, I would have done MUCH better than what I have done while being in Muscat. You get a lot of distractions in the capital city, while in the interior you get no distractions.

Now that's happening with me and I thank God that I decided to study abroad. Here, I have nothing really to do other than studying and checking the internet. So basically I'm studying all the time. If I was in Oman, I know very well that I wouldn't have been studying like this.

It doesn't work like that.

There is a 60% - 40% thingy.

$w€€ŧ¥, it really depends on what college/major you are applying to.

For example, if you are applying for Engineering, it's counted like this:

Get the average of the following subjects: Math, Physics and Chemistry. (Sum them and divide by 3). Then, multiply the result by 0.60 (60%). Then, keep that result aside.

Now, get the average of ALL the 8 subjects (including Math, Physics and Chemistry which were counted earlier, but don't count Arts & Sports). Multiply that average by 0.40 (40%). And now, add this to what you got earlier (the 60% of the Math, Physics and Chemistry average).

That's for Engineering.

If it's Medicine or anything else, your percentage is basically counted as 60% for the major's subjects (Math, Physics, Chemistry and/or Biology), PLUS 40% for the overall.

I think he/she is referring to the public colleges of Education, Applied Sciences and Higher Colleges of Technology across the Sultanate, in addition to SQU of course.

I also think that the figure he/she came up with is just a rough approximation. I'm pretty sure that all these public colleges and SQU are capable of accepting a lot less than that figure per year. SQU, which is the largest higher institute in the country, can only receive a number of 2,500 students maximum per year, no more, let alone the other small colleges across the country.

^The whole country as has been asking for more colleges and universities ever since I opened my eyes to the world :), free proper higher education for everybody,guess no body is listening after all.

Uhmm, I agree its a business" good business", yet I disagree" they rip you for nothing", my motto in life is" its the quality, not the quantity",,, we have to admit, that the education in goverment schools is declining to it worse era, no quality at all. Its more about junking stuff to students brain, without teaching " HOW"... Where, in private schools" yet not all of them, some of them", they teach you "HOW" to study, and than how to "apply", now this is what you want from a student to know.
