Do you believe in luck? Good or bad?

Some people around us are known for being very successful and there are many reasons why they are that successful, do you think luck has anything to do with that (is it part of the reasons)? Do you believe that some of us are simply luckier than others? Or do you think people use luck as an excuse to justify them being unsuccessful?

Yes I do! But when someone is successful and doing really well, I don't believe that luck alone played a role. That person worked for it in some way or another.

To me luck is getting more than what you worked for..

Ofcourse luck plays a role.. but its just luck, if you know what I mean!

I think luck only plays a role at birth, like in which family or household u were born in, that's it. After that its upto the parents and urself to make ur way up.

^ Interesting, so if anything good comes out of the blue its because you made it? Or if you bought a new car and accidents kept happening to you, its because of you?

I see but karma is the consequence of choices, I don't see how can a person tell how and when is something good or bad happening so isn't that more of a luck than things you picked and kinda knew what will happen afterwards?

I don't believe that someone is lucky 24/7. I guess its something that happens from time to time. I personally think I have very bad luck though :XD:

Islam tought us there's no such thing as luck...

but we tend to say that, like "that guy is lucky!"

anyway it's destiny, as sama said...

i most certainly do believe in luck. :D sometimes you get a little pinch of good luck while working really hard for something. and sometimes, after all the work you've done.. you watch it all crumble in front of you. and that's bad luck for you..

it's exactly the same response i was going to give.
some are lucky because they are born into a good family, when they get to start out in life they get a nest egg, and the family encourages them to study and work hard, so they more often than not are natural high achievers in whatever they do.

My fate is my luck and my luck is my fate!
It's all written..When we say 'someone is lucky' it's coz this is written in his fate.

We work very hard to attain a goal but most often these goals would only occur in accord with other events that we cannot rule… yes it could be that 99.9% these events exist but that tiny unlikelihood is enough to turn things upside down…

If I was to paraphrase Bonaparte’s saying, I would say success needs hard work and faith… you do what you can and have faith in your God to make the external factors coincide with your goals… and some would even appease themselves if failed, that God wanted that not to happen for their good… it happens to most of us that we miss some opportunities and later we are thankful that what we wanted didn’t happen…

Well look at it this way..

I look at a tiny starving child in Africa and think.. "Lord, I'm so lucky to be born in better circumstances"

Then I see someone who's got it all.. been born with a silver spoon in their mouths and I think.. "Ah! How lucky for them. They have it made."


I'm not sure if that's luck or destiny.

What I'm sure of is.. it could always have been worse. So in some way or another, we're all lucky.

That is it.

It's about being at the right time and right place and then seizing the opportunity and having the skills to succeed.

Take for example Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft and the richest man in the world.

Yes he is very smart, ambitious and hardworking but if he had been born a decade sooner or later, his opportunity at getting in early and dominating the market of PC Operating Systems would not have been there.

His moves were very brilliant, but that was an opportunity that rarely comes along for anyone.

So yes luck, or timing, does play a part in great success.

Luck exists and it doesnt know anyone, anywhere or anytime
take the lottery people, they get millions in a second by random numbers, now this is a great luck.

sometimes we need to seize the moment we are lucky in because it may not come again and sometimes it just comes we want it or not.

I think that we should concentrate on making our own luck, and then see what is "maktoob" for us!

I dont believe in such a thing as luck..though sometimes i'll say, "i WAS LUCKY" or whatever..but deep on the inside, i dont believe in it. I believe that everything is perfect and everything is calculated and happens for a reason and at the right time it's supposed to happen.

Indeed some external efforts directly effects on someone’s success but it is also depends on luck either to make efforts successful or not.

I don’t think so. If a bad thing is written in my luck I can’t change it at all.

Yes I do believe.
I got everything with day night hard work (because it was written in my luck) but my so many fellows and relative get everything just in a sudden without any single effort.

Yes this is the way of some lazy people.
Indeed luck is everything but the door of success is hidden in hardworking and dua’a (pray)

Luck only exists in the mind..but not in reality. What God wants..it will happen. No one or nothing can change that. Luck is just a word that was probably invented by an athiest. That's what i think. I know everything is written because i believe in a higher power. If it ia something good that is meant to happen, then it will surely happen. If it is something bad that is meant to happen, it will happen and there is a reason for it!

I won’t count on luck for being successful or unsuccessful !

What Allah wrote for you , your fate, and what you do to yourself to deserve it is what make you successful person or unsuccessful.

And those who don’t want to bother doing something for themselves, will find luck the right hunger for their failure !
