I was wondering, can people get together and make a movie freely in Oman?
Is there a special permit needed to do that?
What about shooting in a particular place like a restaurant, would the Govt. permissions be required?
Can we shoot (as in film!) Govt. buildings?

lol we make movies in the collage without any permession :p

but i guess if it's a restaurant, u need to talk to the restaurant first...

# If you watch Muscat Festival , you would see people running away from camera . Specially women and I don’t know why ?? They might be just walking around or watching a show , So its not a big deal .. So you can imagine what will be the reaction if there was some shooting in a restaurant and ppl there don’t know about it !!
They will start complaining and creating problems for nothing ..

So yes , permission restaurants , hotels or gov is required .
And actually I watched many movies that been done in DUBAI , u’ll see that the movies shows only the street of dubai , the hotels from outside , or even public places where there are no Emarati people .. they are spme characters wearing emarati dress sitting there as in a movie just to show that they r in Dubai .

Anyhow , the country cultural n traditions is not so much difficult to deal with , anything can be change or replace during shooting .

#Political movie in Oman .. I don’t think so
Gov is so sticky whenever Political word is exist .
But , Syria is doing wonderful in Political movies ….
Drag abuse and crime ..They should go for that
At least these movies are much better than drama and comedy once

the problem with any omani movie would be having decent actors.

I don't think we have actors problem..we have limited well qualified directors.
plus government have a hand on the media...

telecommunication have been shifted partly to private sector..i think it is the time for media and entertainment.

i have seen alot of omani actors on stage. They are really good..unfortunately, they could not make it to TV... (vitamin W)

so how about if a bunch of guys got together and start shooting a movie, political, criminal and drug abusive story. if they finish and spread it around, will there be legal action taken against them?
