Salam Alikum.

I have a real annoying pain in my feet, I feel that they are burning and this happens at bed time most of the time.

Even if it's cold but my feet are burning and I would ask my mother to stroke them with her hands. And I can not cover them with even a light blanket, in the same time the rest of my body is feeling the cold, but not my feet!!

Is that a sign of me being old... end of my 30-ies.

Any help? please.

Do you wear high heels or flats?

My sister got the same problem, I believe its because she wears high heels all the time.

Well I searched and came across a desease called Raynaud's Syndrom.

http://www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/raynauds.html

It affects the blood vessels in the hands and feet. It appears to people during cold weathers. Rubbing the hands and feet is comforting. But if the weather gets colder, it will get dangerous.

More women than men are affected, and approximately 75 percent of all cases are diagnosed in women who are between 15 and 40 years old.

So it's not because of you're age.

Symptoms are your hands/feet changing in colour, looking pale, or even blue in cold weathers. Also, when you get what are called 'attacks', you get the feeling that your hands/feet are throbbing or tingling.

I do not wear heel-ed shoes, just normal ones. I thought maybe because of the size of my shoes causing such pain but I tried a loose size but still.

Raynaud's Syndrom..Emm, UmKhalid, that's I guess something else where in my case it's always either a cold or hot weather. It could be because of the age but I do walk alot and my health is being well so far apart from this burning feet. It annoys me, and sometimes I intend not to go to sleep because I fear the pain.

Try this out: dab vaseline on your feet, a lot of it, until you can't feel your skin anymore, then immediatly wear socks over it. I hope it will be better Insha'Allah :(

I remember I started having it the first hot summer I was here
It starts with a big burning under the feet, and then swelling of feet and legs
I use lioton gel to help the circulation when they get big like cucumbers and keep them high on pillows specially at night
It stays for a week or more than they go back normal
But i think mine is a problem of varicose veins
I wish I had it now cause is too cold :o

Bint_Arab, see your GP & get some basic tests done

Is it only your feet or the whole lower limbs? And does is it feel better when you rub them or move them constantly?

Are you taking any medications for any chronic condition?

It's only my feet, in omani we usually say يتقارصن و يحترقن رجولي .. wanted to say that as may be my english is not helping to explain it well. And, when I rub them or in a movement then they are okay. I'm on no medication or anything.

I'll try to go to hospital when I'm back to Oman. I should have done so long time but I'm one of those people who keeps distance from hospital.

Why do you relate this symptom with your age? Do women usually have such symptoms when they get older?

It's only my feet, in omani we usually say

Namra 1:

(And my attempt to translate that as follows:

(Tingling ?)
يتقارصن و

(Burning)
يحترقن

(My legs)
رجولي ..

Namra 2:

I'm one of those people who keeps distance from hospital.

Namra 2 explains it ALL ! So heed what HITMAN's kuwaitioned and pay a visit to a doctor. I suspect, GOD forbid it, a condition called Neuropathy where a patient would be compalining of tingling feet and hands ?

Thank you all.

Once I'm back home I will try to see a doctor about it, i think it's time to do so as recently I feel it's getting worse.

I relate it to age just because of the nature of getting old, the system gets weaker.

the feeling of burning sensation around the legs can result from too much blood supply to the legs or to much blood there (when the flow goes down).. the causes can be neurological, drugs, inherited...

further check up is required to know about other things...many questions will be asked regarding the onset, sweating with the burning.... does it happen to one leg or both legs...anyone in the family has it,,

one of the possibilities is the Grierson-Gopalan Syndrome (burning feet syndrome) which results from inherited, vitamin B deficiency, hypothyroidism or compression of leg nerves (e.g tarsal tunnel syndrome). These cases result in burning the sole of the foot and they commonly occur in women at age 20-40. to investigate further u need a medical checkup... since all of these have their own medical causes..
