Would you thrown your baby from a 4th floor window and pray that the people below caught him, if the apartment was on fire and there was no other escape ?

This family in Germany did.

They kissed the 9 month old baby goodbye and then dropped him from the window, praying the firemen below would catch her.

Their prayers were answered.

Well the fireman who caught the baby was knocked backwards with the impact and was injured.

But the baby survived.

Those ppl r really heartless honestly but i wudnt wanted do that, if i was in their position id jumped wit my baby in my arms that way id get hurt and my baby wud still be alive...

Oh my, that's a very tough call! IF there were firemen outside,who know what they are doing, yes I would, and I would jump right after my kid also! :hyper:

if there was somebody under ready to catch it, i would. the smoke inside the apartment and the heat would have killed the baby.

This is a tough call, unless you are placed in this situation we really do not know what we will do. I can say I will jump with the baby or I can say I will throw the baby to the police officer. Thank God angels were watching over this because the baby survived and is doing fine. I feel bad that the little brother of this baby died and I believe 8 others perished. Considering the heartlessness of a certain member on this forum who I just reported his post to admin here I wonder if he would have a comment to make on those 8 dead people?

no, i would not throw my baby..i would hold him and jump together...but one by one..NO!
i think if they both jumped down together they would have both died. babies 'bounce' when they hit solid ground, because their bones are still springy because they are full of cartilage..so they have a better chance of surviving than if someone jumps while holding them. in fact, the fireman catching the baby got injured with the fall (and he was on solid ground). there is always a risk...but when you are in the situation....i think they were adviced to do so by the firemen underneath.

i'd rather die with my baby than for one of us to die and one lives without the other...motherly instincts i tell you..never separate a mother from her child!!:6:

my motherly instincts would tell me to save the baby in the best way i can.

i think in this situation parents will do what they think is the best for their baby . looking at their faces while the baby falling and forgetting that the smoke is inches behind them is really a touching view

And my answer is I don't know...

I've seen this on t.v. I think I might have done the same had I been trapped and had no other choice...in such situations your survival instincts kick in and you just do whatever you can to save your life and the lives of the ones you love.

honestly, i think it's a tough dicision and tough situation. I dont know what i'd do but i'd like to think that i'd jump WITH my kid. I never heard of bouncing babies!:os

From the looks of the pics, it seems that there might've been some otehr ways of saving the kid. If you look carefully, there is a wide edge below the window and it extends to the nearby windows. I would've put the kid there. And if u look again, u'll notice a guy standing on the edge in front of the right nerby window. He couldv've done something.

Unless this whole place was about to explode.

The child's uncle is the man who decided to drop the baby from the window.
The fire killed 9 people. The baby's aunt, two cousins, and a grandmother all died in the blaze.
