I am not very prone to colds. Since i became a teacher, i get sneezed upon and coughed at by twenty four foot little people, so i guess i am quite immune. Havent' had an antibiotic for about ten years now...
But!!! some smells trigger sneezes and give me a chesty cough.

like last week i took my class to a 'sensational science' centre.
they were showing them the science of making popcorn, melting chocolate and candyfloss.
after about half an hour in this 'sensational' room (which the kids loved) my eyes started watering and i had to leave the room.

Sometimes i get the same symptoms if someone hasn't washed and gets close to me with a heavy smell of body odour (like i'm on a bus, and a standing passenger is holding on to the straps hanging from the ceiling, giving me a full blast of armpit aroma)

anybody gets the same, and is there a remedy?

i don't get the symptoms you have but it's annoying that's why i hate small closed places.

my suggestion to you: take a bottle of perfume wherevre you go and spray any armpits blast aroma to you :D

for me i love Oud perfume since its aroma doesnt go out quickly and whenever i smell a smell i don't like i inhale the perfume a bit ( like a drug addict :p ) which makes me feel much better.

However, my eyes tears whenever there is a dust or smoke around

when i smell someone with a bad body odour, i put my nose inside my shirt. to smell my own perfume or body lotion. sometimes it's too late, i get blasted with this sickening smell by someone who doesn't know what deodorant is and i get watery eyes..the thing is that it carries on for days.
could it be a type of hayfever?

When I was pregnant, I could have worked at the Airport with the sniffer dogs.

I smelt stuff that "didn't exist", according to everyone else around me.

Min, Fahad and Hitman are docs... maybe they'll know..

It could be an alergy or a sensitivity to smell .. I think anti-hestamine would work, but wait for the Drs. to say that!

for me a perfume in my bag is a MUST!! i cant stand smoke and closed places. I even fake cough to people who smoke/smell bad to give them a hint of how they smell :XD:

lets wait and see what the doctors around will tell you about it

FAITH86 i know wat you are talking about. some guys smeelll eurgh.......

I guess they have never heard of lynx.

I really dont know how some people dont know that they smell.. they must be so used to it.

I'm so proud that my brother and father smell good. They are very hygienic. Good lads.

I make sure they wear new socks everyday....

remedies...

avoiding such situations
holding your breath
getting away from source of smell

dont feel guilty minerva, its not your fault. Your nose is working perfectly well. and your eyes are a little more sensitive... your body is telling you to move away fromm the smell.. which is good for you.

My cousins kid has allergies to nuts, even if you put a bowl of nuts near him [not even feed!] he starts trembling and eyes watering and all sorts...

so strange....
