People just need to respect each others opinion. People need to be open minded and learn to discuss things, rather than trying to convince the other side that they are in fact right and the opposing side is wrong. Because that will never happen...c'mon we are all stubborn and we all think we are right, but it will help if you can get the logic of the other side, you don't have to agree. Just understand. That is good enough for any forum :cute:

if a person talks wrong on your religion, does it make it a bad religion? no!

it just means that the other person just doesnt believe on it! :) and if it talks Bad, then they just don't have respect!

usually thread starters get a thorough check-up on the reason for their threads :p... medical, personal and psychological analysis before they start serious discussions. you have to fill the form :p

let's just say, there're only a few who accept other mind sets. the majority are defensive, insecure and therefore fight back with vulgar as a form of defense even though the other member was only discussing matters... others are not secure enough to see that. to them, an enemy's an enemy whatever logic they bring forth. it's barely ever about the problem itself most of the times. it's about pride, stubborness, competition and sometimes grudges. i've seen a very few who discuss things for the sake of reaching an answer. Most of the times when a serious discussion starts... it's all about who'll win.

and if somehow throughout the discussion they were proven wrong... they won't step down and agree they were mistaken... they'll feel put down. so they come up with any illogical excuse to stay on the road.

my analysis after going through a few of those events. lol

Mods have nothing to do just shutting down threads whenever silly people posting off-topics.

Q for Mods

when I report a bad post what are you going to do? Are you gonna warn the member who adds the bad post or just delete that post?

^^ we discuss it and decide what action to take. Nobody of the mods gives warning or notices without discussing it :)

I'll tell you what happens to me.

I think I am guilty sometimes of getting off topic. That's usually because I just follow the conversation where it leads. That's what I do in real life with my friends and it's hard to make everything always follow a straight line.

I do try to create respect on threads, even politics and religion.

So for example, I have certain rules.

~Defend and explain my religion, but don't push it
~Never directly criticize the Quran or the Prophet Mohammed
~Hold myself to harder rules than I hold the others...
let them be disrespectful because I need to understand what they really
think. If someone thinks something bad, better to let them say it.
~Try not to argue, but try to understand what a person is TRYING to say. Be
fair. The person matters in the end much more than winning the debate.

And this sometimes drives me off topic also. Because I start talking to the person and not the topic.

Good for human relationships, but sometimes bad for Sabla!

I'm sorry but no mod here abuses his/her power, and I won't allow that to happen, we have enough power to keep things in order and just because some members don't agree with that action doesn't mean that the action was an abuse of power.

Regarding locking threads, if the members are childish enough to not know when to stop their chitchats or silly talk even after the mods warn them to stop at first, then I guarantee that the thread will get locked.

I appreciate your role in organising things and making them in order over ES and I know it's a bit difficult job to make all things in a straight line but in the same time we cannot deny that sometimes mods make unwise decisions, no one perfect to be honest. AW, thanks to all mods they're doing a great job.

No offense intended to anyone here, but lately I have noticed that this forum became so silly. Members take every single chance to insult each other and be so sarcastic in serious discussions, maybe me included. That's really sad.

^ Happens alot in many forums. Silly members post silly comments, disrespectful members who haven't been raised well post disrespectful comments (and yes I mentioned raised well because I cannot think of any other reason why anyone would be like that). But there are decent and intelligent members around who make the threads worth browsing and reading through.

Anyways, topic served it's purpose.
