This painting is so hauntingly beautiful, not only is is amazingly executed but the whole concept behind it is captivating and portrays beautifully the state of the late Australian actor.

It's really brilliant and moved me in so many ways.

Why was this painting commissioned?

^ what do you mean? an Australian painter asked heath ledger to sit for him and he did, the painting was fully ready a few days after his death.

I wanted to know why was it painted, I thought maybe for a movie or to be hanged in a museum or coz Heath wanted to be painted...just curiosity :p

I like the painting, it's haunting as you said. Heath looks so different.
