Excellent documentary I must say. It reflects the situation in Oman nicely. I just wish they had pointed out how much emphasis there is on education, not only economy. Also, very little of Muscat was shown, the most developed city :(

May Allah protect HM and grant him good health :)

Very nice! I really enjoyed the first one...haven't seen the second one yet.

The Minister of Tourism seems like a real sweetheart! :) Such a nice face and such a gentle seeming personality...

The nicest thing about Oman really I think is the people. That's what brings me back to Sabla in the end. You could say that the people have the Sultan they deserve and the Sultan has the people he deserves. And it's good to see something that conveys a little of the wonderful flavor of Omanis.

Impressive, but I feel there is yet alot in Oman that the documentary missed out on. No one can ever summarise Oman's beauty, culture, heritage, people, tourism, economy.......etc in a video clip! :flag:

Exactly, Shahrazad. Good point you raised there, nothing in the world could express Oman's beauty. :)

noooooooooooooooooooo
i spotted a lot more, but that's what i expect from a good leader. (some things i didn't like but they were overshadowed by a lot of good things showed in the video...woman minister for one)
but for an Arab to love western classical music, that's a novelty to me. And a nice fact about the man himself.

Actually we've got our very own Royal Symphony here in Oman and they play on TV and Radio quite often.

Well, yeah, there was such thing in a certain time of the history :XD: :os

^ The presenter was talking about the present time, not a "certain time of the history", if you know what I mean.

That's a great documentary. I myself have learnt a thing or two about my country from it. Thanks for sharing Faith.

Long live the Sultan! :flag:

I remember when this Sultan took over from his father.

And one thing I remember hearing at that time was that he was a huge fan of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas which he had encountered while being educated in England.

Interesting! First time to hear about this. We Omanis know a slim bit about HM's education life in England. Thanks for sharing this piece of information, Jeff :)!

Good true stuff they said there.

If you want to know his majesty, so then read this book, "Reformer on the Throne - Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said" by the Russian writer and journalist Sergey Plekhanov. I enjoyed it really, though I didn't finish it yet & I am not sure where the book is.

I've studied this book as part of one of the uni required courses. Very interesting indeed, I've learned new facts about Oman throughout this book.

Very interesting documentary. I really enjoyed it. Reminded me that although we might sometimes face certain hardships in Oman (low salaries and boredom), we still have something precious no other country on this planet has.

I still believe they could have showed Muscat a bit more and the mountains in Salalah. Other than that, amazing.
