This is wonderful news in the sense that it shows the Danes will not cave in to the killings and threats.

Score one (1) point for the good guys.

...”We are not interested in an exhibition, we are interested in them being kept safe for future generations,” the Royal Library spokeswoman said. "This is the obvious place to keep them because we have all the security measures in place. It would be very difficult for a private person to come in and sabotage them because to see them for research purposes you will need a letter of consent from your university professor. They will be treated like any rare book.”

Giggles,

It appears that at least ONE Danish muslim has learnt how to behave in the modern world.

From your link :

"Kasem Said Ahmad, a spokesman for the Danish Muslim Society, which led the campaign against the cartoons said: “We will not be holding any demonstrations as we got nothing from the Danish courts when we tried to sue the newspapers. We will ignore all provocations in future.”

This is part of what I meant when I told Mimo that in fact the world of Islam had gotten used to the cartoons and that phase had sort of worked itself through. Future protests on similar grounds will be low level.

I don't see the problem with historizing them. At some point of history, they were the talk of the hour.

No problem with this whatsoever.

well i guess it kinda depends on the purpose of keeping them...

to be honest, i agree with Ti3gib's post, they were part of history, a bad part for both the danish and the muslims....

but why are they keeping them??
- Proud?
- memories?
- Aknowledgement??

Acutely this is a good move !

As it was a part of a black history, maybe the future generation will got to learn something that we ( Danish & Muslims ) didn’t see right now !
