Today morning while going to work, there were two ladies trying to cross the road. It was next to a school. Sure I didn't see the other lady because she was coming from the other side. I press the brakes hardly enough to stop the car. The two ladies were shaking hands in the middle of the road. and sure after the warm hand shaking, she continued her road crossing! She was going very slaw as if she is the princess diana. (even princess diana would have walked far more faster).

I just wonder why this is very common here? And why don't they educate ladies to tell them that this was of road crossing doesn't make them precious, or beautiful. Sure not all ladies but sadly a big percentage are doing so.

Did you face this situation before or I am the only one suffering here?

Pedestrians in Oman think they own the road. Everyone is taught the basics of crossing the road: Look right, look left, and if there aren't any cars, you're safe to cross. Many ignore that last bit, and cross, whether or not there are any cars coming. Oh, and sometimes they like to take their sweet time.

I failed my first driver's test coz of this problem. And the most annoying thing is that the police dude wrote down (almost hit a person on a zebra crossing) when there wasn't one on the road!!! (zebra crossing that is)

Whatever...I passed the second time

Two days ago I saw on Dubai TV that the police is going to publish a ticket for people who cross the road instead of using the pedestrian ducts. *that's all what I gathered from the news*.

Also what I have noticed in Oman that at the zebra crossing most of the pedistrain has to wait for the cars to cross the road first then when there is no coming cars he/she will cross the road!! Which is completely the opposite of the zebra crossing idea!! And this is because the car drivers do not care about the zebra crossing which is a bad habit.

Yeah, but let's face it Rey...when they ARE beautiful, then for some reason we sit and smile at them like our brains have been taken out and kicked down the road...la?

You shoulda got out of the car, stood by the door and went,
'No...There's coffee and tea now. It's time you guys meet at last, no? Right in front of my car. There's no problem. I'm a little slow cause I thought the road was for CAAAAARS not HUMANS!'

I mean...I woulda probably done that if I knew how to drive lol

I don't know. How much time do we lose because of slow pedestrians? Can it be a total of five minutes from our lives?

I have been frustrated by pedestrians before. Sometimes they are inconsiderate and slow.

But I have also seen many drivers who are pushy and inconsiderate toward pedestrians and seem to feel that they are doing pedestrians a favor by letting them live.

In an equal contest between pedestrians and drivers, I'm on the side of the pedestrians. Drivers can just let pedestrians go where they are going and not be in such a hurry.

froggers!

These are not pedestrians, these are goats crossing the streets..(hooosh)

They wouldn't look left or right before crossing cze they're afraid that male drivers will stare at their beauty, which is Harram of course.

on the topic..honestly some people are just impossible, they'll never understand

we nearly had a damn accident yesterday because some jerk decided to cross the road, we were going at normal speed on a STRAIGHT road, and he just stepped into the road RIGHT IN FRONT OF US, if the driver hadn't swerved like a lunatic allah y3lem (good knows) what would have happened to that guy, my heart jumped 100m in the air, not cool

couldn't he have waited for like FIVE seconds, sub7an allah some people are just plain THICK

I never cross the road cause I came to the conclusion that Omani and Omanised drivers are born to kill

I know exactly how you felt Haroundb, been there!

But I must say it doesn't happen so often to the degree of V.V.V Annoying Road Crossing Ladies :p

There it's so bad it makes you question everything you ever learnt about driving!

'No...There's coffee and tea now. It's time you guys meet at last, no? Right in front of my car. There's no problem. I'm a little slow cause I thought the road was for CAAAAARS not HUMANS!'
LOL! :hyper:

Bint_Arab has a good point though about the zebra crossings in Oman. I mean even when there is one, it's never used the way it's supposed to, not because of the pedestrians lack of knowledge but rather due to the drivers lack of knowledge and carelessness. :os

Drivers can just let pedestrians go where they are going and not be in such a hurry.
It wouldn't be a very good idea on the roads here in Oman where all main roads have speed limits in excess of 100km/h (about 70mph) and almost all other roads have their speed limits exceeded by quite a bit. :)

actually i did that once but not in purpose! it was in carrefore and i was tired so when i was crossing with my sis the car waited(which was generous enought to let us go first lol ^^; ) so the guy horned when we took tie lol but i didnt know i was slow so i told sis to give him the finger which he seemed to not see cuz he went fast lool

It is great that everyone identified the problem, and sad that we can't just fix it. And lili3, that is why drivers should not be generous anymore!
