darkend_soul 29-01-08, 03:27 PM loooooooooooooool um how do you expect the food to get together by magic :)
i've had even worse experiences with KFC
i've seen cocroaches walking on the kithchen walls
i've seen hair in burgers
i heard from my friend that she found a fly in her burger
:yuk:
AMARANT 29-01-08, 03:30 PM wow shocking
i thought they had gloves on...
damn KFC always seems the lowest to me...
Welcome to the restaurant business...believe me, KFC and the like are probably some of the cleanest kitchens you will find...don't even look in the kitchens of other restaurants, you will not want to eat anything you didn't make yourself ever again!
LOL .. :shy: but they're chicken is delicious, don't u think ? xD
Hmmm.. I don't know about what u saw, honestly, but I guess there are more worse things that actually happened.. Who knows ?!
I don't judge like this .. I love to keep everything for it's appropiate minute.
If this thing happened with me, then I might have done something, but thank God till today I didn't face such ancident. ;)
i think you should have told the girl straight in her face or just report it to the nearest municipality.
Lightning2 29-01-08, 03:40 PM loooooooooooooool um how do you expect the food to get together by magic :)
well....i expect it to be prepared in a clean place, by people wearing some gloves or what ever it is called !! not by naked hand....which was used to collect money and etc......!!!
Elvenblade 29-01-08, 03:40 PM my friend worked part time at KFC lulu
he advised me not to eat at KFC when its crowded
he says they just try to do everything fast without caring about hygiene
but the al khuwair KFC, the one that shares the entrance with Hardeez was better then the other branches
Lightning2 29-01-08, 03:44 PM i think you should have told the girl straight in her face or just report it to the nearest municipality.
the place was crowded.. i didnt want to make a big fuss......i called thier hot line which was useless......for me to call municipality it will be a long story !!....
darkend_soul 29-01-08, 03:49 PM btw out of experiance some time hands are cleaner than utensils
eL3yo0oN 29-01-08, 03:50 PM It happened to me in the KFC in lulu, the guy placed the chicken on the counter n was only wearing one glove then my friend told him that we want to cancel our order cuz he isnt wearing gloves he then showed that he is wearing one n was holding the chicken in his other hand that didnt have a glove!! Thats so stupid!
Shahrazad 29-01-08, 03:51 PM We have an Omani Consumer Right hotline, they should be able to help with such issues, try to look it up!
Oh and probably those burgers taste "lickin good" because their ingredients so many new and improved bacterias, haha!
eL3yo0oN 29-01-08, 03:54 PM And whats the use of wearing gloves if you're gonna touch ketchup or mayonaise containers then wrap the sandwich (subway) ?!
Lightning2 29-01-08, 03:58 PM btw out of experiance some time hands are cleaner than utensils
her hands were not !
AMARANT 29-01-08, 04:01 PM And whats the use of wearing gloves if you're gonna touch ketchup or mayonaise containers then wrap the sandwich (subway) ?!
well i guess they wrap the sandwitch not put the ingredients by hand (much much worse)
wrapping doesnt involve much contact, if there's any
Lightning2 29-01-08, 04:01 PM hmm...Shahrazad well....what is the use.... i feeel nothing will happen i will only waste my time.....the best thing is to avoid them.....in my opinion the best KFC is MQ and alkhuwair......
i think you should have told the girl straight in her face or just report it to the nearest municipality.
Obviously this girl wasn't from Kentucky to start with......this the main reason the colonel never got to be a general!!!!
FYI: At the age of 40, Sanders cooked chicken dishes for people who stopped at his service station in Corbin, Kentucky. Since he did not have a restaurant, he served customers in his living quarters in the service station. Eventually, his local popularity grew, and Sanders moved to a motel and restaurant that seated 142 people and worked as the chef. Over the next nine years, he perfected his method of cooking chicken. Furthermore, he made use of a pressure fryer that allowed the chicken to be cooked much faster than by pan-frying. He was given the honorary title "Kentucky Colonel" in 1935 by Governor Ruby Laffoon. Sanders chose to call himself "Colonel" and to dress in a stereotypical "southern gentleman" costume as a way of self-promotion. Sanders sold his franchise in 1964, although he remained their corporate spokesman until his death.
In 1971 Sanders sued Heublein Inc. (the KFC parent company at the time) over alleged misuse of his image in promoting products he had not helped develop. In 1975 Heublein Inc. unsuccessfully sued Sanders for libel after he publicly referred to their gravy as “sludge” with a “wallpaper taste”.

in the uk, sainsbury's staff are asked to use hands not gloves.
when your hands get sticky, you go to the wash station and you wash them with an appropriate handwash.
when you are wearing gloves, you touch different things and don't wash your hands once.
i used to work in a restaurant. my hands were constantly in the wash. i used to wash my hands between each order. not hard to do.
marianna 29-01-08, 06:25 PM The best bet is to eat at home. You never know how your food is getting handled. If not then I advise you to stock up on your immunizations. :D
FAITH86 29-01-08, 06:35 PM KFC sucks big-time! Their chips taste like crap and are too oily and their burgers are flat dull and have no zing to it. I'm wondering, why do some people still addict their meals!
^ LOL ! I agree with the 'Chips' part ! xD
NiGhTFaCe 29-01-08, 07:58 PM KFC's service is getting worse by day, & I guess I know where is the problem, its with the management operating every branch.
A friend of mine had this experience with them, he sent an email to KFC in USA, they informed the KFC of Oman, where the manager himself here called my friend to discuss the issue. If you want to speak to the manager, let me know where I can get you his phone number.

They make burgers in KFC?!
marianna 29-01-08, 08:02 PM I think the quality of the food stems from how it is cooked and served at that particular resturant. I have a KFC about five minutes from where I live and the food is always great. My stomach is rumbling just thinking about it.
This sounds like a crisis and serious human rights violation.
Perhaps America should invade Oman to restore order.
Rossonero 29-01-08, 08:42 PM And that is exactly why I don't eat KFC in Oman. Even Hawasna is cleaner.

Haha, typical American solution :p..When they have the problems and invade other countries to fix these problems in the other countries :p
Take a pair of gloves next time and kindly offer it to them if they don't accept it through over the counter and aim for the face :p ok am joking but I couldn't resist xD
Hmm, that's bad...
Seriously, I think mimo is right.
Even the cleanest restaurants have people that sometimes do unsanitary things. If you are eating out you just need to come to terms with that. You might not see it, but it's happening.
Many years ago, I worked in a very popular and generally sanitary restaurant. One day the cooks were pulling the stove out from the wall to clean behind it. (See how sanitary? ) Well, they found that months before a steak had fallen down there and become a farm for all kinds of things; it was green and oozy and had a fascinating smell. They thought it would be a great lark to fix it up for the next steak order which they proceeded to do.
No complaints! Life went on... Ho hum.
Jesse Jackson said when white people used to insult him, he used to spit in their salad before he served it to them.
Best not to think too much about eating out. If you do, be very nice to the help and hope for the best. :)
I heard that they changed the name from Kentucky Fried Chicken to KFC because, techincally, they no longer use Chicken.
I don't see why this is a huge problem? did you ever get sick from their food? Till that happens I suggest you keep your paranoia on hold because no kitchen is %100 clean.
FAITH86 29-01-08, 09:34 PM ^^
LoL, then what are they using now? Turkey?
And yeah, what you guys know about their secret recipe? Any one could figure out what are the ingredients?

Pen_it_Black 29-01-08, 10:38 PM My sister found a bug in her burger from DQ :yuk:
The sanitary conditions of the restaraunts in Oman REAAAAAAALLLY need to be improved. I'm not even sure if staff go through training in familiarising them with these issues.
and KFC everywhere is not yummy. Burger King is the best :p
^^Burger King is the best i soooooooo agree with that!! XD
*drools*
marianna 29-01-08, 10:42 PM When I was in Oman :flag: the biggest pet peeve I had were the women's bathrooms :os but I guess I could start a new thread on that one. :o

am talking about her hands were not clean ....who mentioned chicken !!!!
Nabhan, are you serious?!!!! :o
lightning: read again, I said kitchen not chicken. And besides..so what if she used her hands..did the sandwich make you sick?
Charm: yes I am serious, living abroad for many years has taught me to not be picky about these kind of little things. I mean suck it up and just eat it.
I once found a huge hairy worm in Mcdonalds salad and I just removed the worm and ate the salad because I was hungry. If that didn't make me sick then how about a pair of hands that I'm sure she washes every now and then.
^ :os Well I can't do that, its not healthy.
well as you can see..it's been two years since that happened and I'm still alive. :P
Pen_it_Black 30-01-08, 12:57 AM I said it in the Hotel thread and I'll say it here..
"Ignorance is bliss"
:p
Nabs I know but still I mean I can't and if I had to there is a 95% chance am going to throw up what I made myself eat.. I guess its just different from one person to another.
minerva 30-01-08, 01:23 AM the best chefs i worked with always used their hands. they scrub before up to their elbows, and wear their pristine laundered whites.
a good steak is given a pounding by the chef's flat hand before it goes on the grill...to tenderise it more. vegetables are chopped by hand...and the more complicated the plating is, there is more chance that fingers have helped the utensils.
trust your chef, he wouldn't jeopardise his reputation by giving his customers food poisoning. a chef's hands should be as trustworthy as a surgeon's.
Depends if he washes or wipes.
minerva 30-01-08, 01:31 AM Depends if he washes or wipes.
behave yourself! :p
This sounds like a crisis and serious human rights violation.
Perhaps America should invade Oman to restore order.
I agree......there's a pride issue at stake.........and democracy at risk?
What next......people stop dunkin their donuts?
PS....I hear also they use enslaved Egyptian chickens, some have been tortured and denied their chicken rights.
fatak
i3u00n_ildenya 30-01-08, 04:30 AM Yeah, there's some really disgusting people out there. What can you do, stop them all? Good luck on that. Just don't go back to the place, or better yet, homemade food is the best, stick to that! :D
Lightning2 30-01-08, 11:09 AM WEll Nabhan ....it depends where abroad you are !!!!....any way i didnt eat the sandwich i left n throwed it....and again....her hands were dirty !!!!!! i mean i do go to 7awasna and other places....they guy who prepares the sandwich is always in the kitchen...you will never see a cashier who takes money then simply goes and prepares the sandwich without washing at least !!!
J'adore 30-01-08, 11:18 AM lightning: read again, I said kitchen not chicken. And besides..so what if she used her hands..did the sandwich make you sick?

LOOOOOOOOL!!! Am I the only one thats crackin up here..
As ifffffff you did that? U gottah love u for that though.. Ur insane! :p lol
.................................................. .............................
Lightning.. Poooooooor Youuu!!!..:yuk: I understand where you're commin from.. Especiallyy once u start thinking about it.. Now seriously that sh!t can Screw with ur mind.. But I think the solution would be NEW GLOVES.. Everytime.. Not just stickin to one the whole day.. but everytime ur finished with an order u throw it out and put a new pair on.. They do that at subway so why nott KFC? lool.. I mean Yeah it'll take more time.. But I'm sure ppl are willin to be a lil more patient if that ensures their food is being handled with care.. And The more ppl that complain the more ppl will pay attention to the issue.. so keep complainin :p lol
Lightning2 30-01-08, 11:29 AM ^^^hey nice to cu here :) khalaaaa9 willl forward ur suggestion to the kfc managment here:D
J'adore 30-01-08, 11:32 AM LOL.. Ofcourse it's nice ;p.. btw.. One more suggestion.. Get urself a Wife.. hahay! :p

i used to work in a restaurant. my hands were constantly in the wash. i used to wash my hands between each order. not hard to do.
exactly what i meant i had some kitchen training and all you have to do is wash your hands but utensils and gloves you would never know what happened after storing it anythin is possible
Angel_Eyes 30-01-08, 12:16 PM how about we take nabhan's idea as he said about something else in another thread.....
lightning2, how about you write your problem in a note/letter and leave it there in the customer complaints box(if they even have).. you dont have to leave your name or anything..just write and let it out :6:
Angel_Eyes 30-01-08, 12:19 PM you know...i really dont like germs and i dont like people touching my food...i myself WILL NOT eat(regardless of how hungry i am) UNLESS i wash my hands first...
i wash my hands a lot btw:shy: ..but no, dont worry, i dont have OCD (Obsessive Cumpulsive Disorder)..i am sure;)
if someone touched my food, that is just too much....i'd be just as pissed of as Lightning2!
Angel_Eyes 30-01-08, 12:23 PM lightning: read again, I said kitchen not chicken. And besides..so what if she used her hands..did the sandwich make you sick?

maaaaaaaaaaaan..that is horrible..:mmhmm:
ok, yeah al7amdulilah you are still alive...but i mean..that's disgusting..holy crap! :os
this is a shocker i have to say
I had boycotted KFC long back, not because it was American, but because of their pathetic service and hygiene. Sometime back, I decided to go back, and guess what? I boycotted the idiots once again, this time for life.
I was in KFC Ruwi, it was full of flies and the tables were dirty. The place was empty, with few customers, and ordered something to a Omani lady, later, I decided to change my order, and she called this stupid Chinese supervisor to held her, who was pissed off for no reason, she started screaming at her and training her while I stood there!
Anyhow, later, I had ordered Diet Coke, but she gave me normal, so i went to the Chinese lady and told her I asked for diet, she went and refilled another glass and went like: "CHUCK THISS, IS IT DIET??!?"
I got pissed! I told her, while the Egyptian manager stood behind, "are you serious? Are you asking me to taste it whether it was diet?"
And guess what, she started talking rudely to me like the other Omani employee! I told them things, including her idiot manager, which I can't write here. But I am sure she won't be rude to another customer again!
KFC sucks big-time! Their chips taste like crap and are too oily and their burgers are flat dull and have no zing to it. I'm wondering, why do some people still addict their meals!
lol yeah ^
i heard lots of stories bout KFC :XD: so now i don eat from it any more except when there is no clue :P Mcdonalds Rule :D!!
FAITH86 30-01-08, 06:53 PM lol yeah ^

I'd either drive all the way to the nearest Subway or remain hungry all day...

marianna 30-01-08, 07:17 PM cRAP....why doesn't upper management get involved with this local KFC?
cRAP....why doesn't upper management get involved with this local KFC?
I think thats because the HQ for all KFCs in Arabia is based in Egypt, thats why all store managers have been Egyptians. I don't know in other Arab countries, but in Oman, thats how it has been.
I have nothing against the Egyptian, but they are pathetic when it comes to KFC, they are ruining it.
I 100% back STING on the poor Egyptian managment at the KFC.
UnKnown 30-01-08, 10:14 PM I have nothing against the Egyptian, but they are pathetic when it comes to KFC, they are ruining it.
Yes, poor management and poor hygiene, if you go to McDonald's which is mostly run by Filipino's, you'll notice a much better standard in service and hygiene.
In the end, it's all junk food and we shouldn't expect very high standards in both joints.
Lightning2 31-01-08, 12:52 AM ^^^ i agree with u guys...americana is based in kuwait as far as i know...but managed by egyptions.....

Actually fast and quality customer service is McDonald's policy world wide. They make sure each of their store is up to the standards. If you notice, they serve fresh meals so quickly. They use technology very smartly to do this.
KFC has chicken that can sell itself, and it has millions of addicted Egyptians, they don't care if they get out business
Pen_it_Black 31-01-08, 08:17 AM Even the KFC in NZ is pretty low standered compared to BK and McDonalds. Oily fries and wilty lettuce!
Oh the lettuce are like that here too!!!!
