Hello,

I use Adobe Acrobat Professional to read my PDFs because it enables me to underline and highlight the text, so it really looks like a real book :)

And when the PDF is just a scan these 2 features normally do not work, but I use the feature of adding "notes" and writing whatever I want next to the paragraph.

I attached a file. Check page 2 to see my scribblings :p

_______

Now I have a problem with this file:
http://www.4shared.com/file/27854790/a9248c00/_online.html

I can't even use the "noting" feature. I think there is a sort of security. How do I break that? The book is too long to read without adding notes.

Any help?
Thank

it has a password, without that you can't make OCR Recognition work and without that you can't underline or highlight etc.

Find out the password from somewhere and click File, properties, then Security Tab and select "No Security", input the password and then this document will become fully editable.

Sorry for not being very helpful! Maybe you can give a comment on that download page asking for password or send an email to the author for the password, he's the one who might've scanned it and put a password lock on it!

Thanks.
The original make is ithar.com and the site is down. The uploader is from another forum.

Is there a software to break the security. Sorry I don't mean to be malicious, but I need to add notes. :mushroom:

Another Question:
Is there an OCR recognition for Arabic PDFs? What version of Adobe professional does that?

Thanks :)

Download this program (http://www.verypdf.com/pwdremover/index.htm) and install it, change the pdf file name to anything in English, drag and drop the protected pdf into the program and off you go, password removed.

Note, the pdf document above is a direct scan with no OCR, so I don’t think you'll be able to highlight recognizable text.

THANKS! It worked :D

Adobe Professional version 8 can convert direct scans into editable and searchable text! But it works only with Westen characters.

I tried it once (a colleague has it on his computer) and it works perfectly. It even recognizes hand writing!
Just open and PDF and run the "OCR recognition" and it once it finishes, the PDF becomes searchable, highlightable, underlinable.

I was really hopping that such thing is also available for Arabic. :(
