i was watching House Swap show and there was a Catholic family where the wife is cooking and doing all the house chores. and she claimed that shez doing this coz Eve was the reason She and Adam was descended to earth, so Go judged her to serve the the husband on earth for the rest of her life ( this is according to the wife's believes in christianity ).

based on this i have some questions regarding when was Adam and Eve in heaven ( if it's mentioned in the Bible or according to christians believes )

- why did God send them to earth ? is it right that Eve was the main reason to be on earth when she convinced Adam to eat from the forbidden fruit ?

- Is the heaven Adam and Eve were in, the same heaven which God promised His believeres to go to ?

i will appreciate it too if some of my muslim brothers and sisters explain it from the Islamic view. :)

yeah right.
that woman got whacked with a frying pan on her head.
99.9 of the families i know are catholic, regular church goers and more. and none of the woman speak like this weirdo.
obviously in house swap they choose the quirkiest people, and people who are most likely to clash
so don't think all catholics are like that woman. ;)

the story of adam and eve is the same in your book and in ours and in the jewish one. so if that lady said another different story, she must be illiterate or wacky.

if it's the same story then i guess the woman said the true story .. coz i think the Islamic scholars say that Eve convinced Adam to eat from the fruit .. am not sure if there is another story

^^ our scholars know this because its in their books el Rey :)
What Minerva is trying to say is that its in the Bible that Eve convinced Adam of eating that, but then they both were guilty equally..
But I remember in another forum a Christian told me the same thing, women suffer giving birth as a punishment of what Eve did :os

just a way of the writer of the genesis explaining childbirth.
el rey i didn't say the same thing. i am saying that's what i was taught. nowadays we know better than having a woman being submissive to the man in her life. man and woman are partners and they share burdens and joys ;)

this means they blame Eve for descending to earth

just a way of the writer of the genesis explaining childbirth.

so what you were taught is wrong ? and how did you know that it's wrong ?
lol i agree men and women are partners and they share everything, i just wanted toknow the story from a christian point of view and if they see it the way we muslims see it.

and what about the heaven ? is it the same which God promised his believers to go to ? or that was another one ?

okkey lemme explain it in simpul terms...
i was taught that when the genesis was taught to me. as in : this was the way the writer of those times wanted to explain sufferring and childbirth. as time went by , i learnt also about evolution..so adam and eve were an allegory of the early sins committed by men and women. i read in some places that the 'apple' signified sodomy rofl. oh well....
as to christian teaching, i follow what has been posted many times here. jesus came and he told us to love one another. anything else is superficial. now please don't go highlighting bits of this post to pick...just accept that christianity is based on the 11th commandment...what J.C said...'love your neighbour as thyself'.

Minerva.. there is something different in the way muslims and christians understand religion..

Muslims need the story. They need facts, proof etc.. (even if they are based on dogma) ... a christian is happy to see the story behind the story. The lesson being told.

for exampe..

princess and the pea.

Muslim: But how many mattresses were laid upon the pea?

Christian: many...

Muslim: but how many exactly?

In the end, it doesn't make a difference.. but this is, in my opinion, how many muslims "digest" what you are trying to tell them.

no one talked about proofs and facts

if you dont have the story then say we don't have it or we don't know

Ok...I thought it was a snake (that is satan) whispered Adam into eating the fruit...this is the first time I know Eve tempted Adam :os

What's the whole story?

as far as I know you are absolutely right Satan whispered to Adam and convinced him to eat from that tree, and I suppose then Adam convinced Eve to eat with him as well.

So as I see it it's not Eve's fault it's Adam's

and this what it says in the Quran about it in "Taha" chapter:

120] Then Shaitân (Satan) whispered to him, saying : "O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away?"

[121] Then they both ate of the tree, and so their private parts became manifest to them, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of the Paradise for their covering. Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray

and to say that God make Eve's female off springs suffer in earth through giving birth is utter nonsense, he should really make Adam's male off springs suffer, but this is also untrue, God forgave Adam's sin when he said in the same chapter:

[122] Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him with forgiveness, and gave him guidance.
