View Full Version : What do you do for a living?
Was just talking to another Sablawi about this subject...there are some interesting people around here, and I think work is a big part of a person's identity. So...what do you do? Would you share, even if it's just in a general way?
And, as a lot of members are students etc., so that you can join in...if you're not already working, what do you intend to do next? Don't just say "I'm at college"...tell us instead "I am studying to be a lawyer and want to work in human rights" or "I am training to be a chemical engineer" etc.
OK?! Yalla, who's first?
AMARANT 25-01-08, 03:10 AM studying Finance
will hopefully work in a research department in a finance company :)
I am a hairstylist, I don't work steadily now, because my youngest is still not of school age but I accept a few close friends and clients in my home just to keep me busy and not lose touch with the trade.
Next October I'll be going out to work again when she starts school. Hopefully I'll look into a managing position, which is what I'd been doing for the last 5 years of my working life, 4 of them in my own salon and 1 managing a 5 star (Radisson) hotel's salon.
Pen_it_Black 25-01-08, 03:16 AM I am currently an intern research and evaluation analyst at the ministry of social development in NZ.
And am also doing a Software Engineering degree at uni...not quite sure what am gonna do after uni though but I'll be a programmer somewhere lol
OK Cosme, you next then :p
Thanks Fungus and Penny for diving straight in!
I wasn't going to start Cosme because it's a bit of a long answer...the short version is "I do almost anything at the moment"! I left me previous career last year, with the intention of doing some political and media consultancy for an Arab government. That has been slow to happen, although I still help them out here and there. In the mean time, I'm doing some similar work for private companies, including some in Oman, and also some business development work in the region. And at other times, I'm involved in a little photography and design business with my friend Mr Grasshopper (he's the pro photographer though, not me). So there you go.
