View Full Version : Cell phones CAN cause fire
sameerb1 23-01-08, 03:42 PM I know..couple of months back i was debating over the subject that cell phones cant cause fire ands its mostly caused by the static electric current produced by our body.
well i guess this video proves me wrong. as the guy who gets burnt has discharged his static energy and is on the tanker. he opens the lid to see how much fuel is in the tanker, and because its dark, he tries to turn the light of the camera of phone on.
i m still not sure if it was static electricity from the camera light, or signal from the cell phone, but the fire was cause by the cell phone going near the vapours of gas in the tank.
maybe cell phone signals send out electric pulses?
Cell phone causing fire?
The ceiling fan CAN fall down

sameerb1 24-01-08, 01:26 PM well...my fone is off while i m refueling from now onwards...
eL3yo0oN 24-01-08, 06:28 PM Poor guy i hope he's okay..
Do u have to switch it off or just not use it while refuelling?
Angel_Eyes 24-01-08, 08:17 PM i think it is from the battery..i doubt it's from electric currents.. the battery IS like a bomb if you think about it. Something must be wrong with the battery if it explodes. Must be defected.
Bint_Arab 24-01-08, 10:10 PM Thank you for sharing, this is really bad. One of the email passed by my inbox showed someone who got burnt by a mobile phone by keeping it close to his pillow while sleeping.
Kid from my town, 4 years old, was playing with his dad's phone and was like licking it and it happened someone called on the phone and the child got his cheek paralyzed.
Angel_Eyes 25-01-08, 04:28 AM ^miskeeeeeeeeeeeeen..omg..:os
Illusionist 25-01-08, 05:10 AM Mobile phones can ignite fires simply because they can generate enough energy to start a tiny spark. Now since fuel is highly flameable, a spark is all it requires to blow up the place.
What Kumar did in this case, was turn on his camera light which in return produced the slightest energy, sufficient enough to send his *** burning on the floor.
Answering an incoming call while filling up your tank can also start a fire, since the energy conveyed within the signal can interfere with the fuel reservoir. And again, you'll probably end up on the floor with no eyebrows. Just like Kumar.
Yes so people switch off your phones when you're getting your fuel tanks refilled! I don't know why some people take this for granted .. I mean I was in a similar situation once and I've learned to switch off my phone ever since
Pen_it_Black 25-01-08, 11:07 AM ^ Wow what happened Mesmie?
I never liked petrol stations and this vid freaked me out
Thanks Sameer.
also, never, ever answer a cell phone while it is being recharged.
^ interesting.
poor guy.. :(
i'm switching my phone off from now on.
thanx for sharing Sameer.
Superfreak 26-01-08, 08:12 AM i never knew this could happen. Interesting and Shocking.
There is a big difference between refuelling your car and sticking your head in a petrol tanker.
Unless you stick your phone inside the fuel pipe and switch it on there is simply no way there is enough saturation of petrol vapour to ignite from the phone. I mean, not many people really switch their phone off at the petrol station, do they? It's normally in your pocket or something right? And did you ever burn yourself to death? No. Neither did the other billion people who filled their cars today with their phones, MP3 players, digital watches, pacemakers and intimate pleasure assistors switched on.
The fuel tanker is full of petrol, totally saturated with fumes. He stuck a phone in it and switched it on. Darwin award contender, God rest him.
So the moral of the story is, don't climb into a petrol tanker when you're on the phone. Oh...you weren't going to? Good.
