Did anyone take one of those before? How often should you take them?

And are there any side effects? Is it very effective and for how long does it last?

I hate this time of the year and I hate getting a flue... :alien:

I take one almost every year. They are given free where I work. It usually makes me feel bad for a day or two but haven't had the full blown flu for about 7 years now.

Usually people over 65 years of age, or those who suffer from chronic diseases are advised to take this shot. I think they should take it once a year, around mid autumn, and it would last them all winter and spring, when the flu season finally ends.
I've had my first ever flu shot in October, and I get mild symptoms of the flu every now and then, but it doesn't develop any more than that. Last year was terrible, I had to stay in bed for a whole week, but this shot has proven to be quite effective :)

Usually, every end of October or November, I get the Flu Shot, before "Flu season". Sometimes, you'll get sick when you get the shot, its just cause you were about to get the flu, but you got the shot.

I don't like it.

I take it every year around oct/nov at a clinic in M.Q, Sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't, not sure really but no harm in taking it just to be on the safe side, but unlike the rest it didn't make me feel bad or sick.

And are there any side effects?

Yes, but minor & negligible

Is it very effective and for how long does it last?

Effectiveness = 40% in the best case

Lasts only for 1 year, due to high mutagenicity, new strains emerge every year

If you can avoid it, better not take. Let the body's natural immune systems work. If you can get fresh honey, take a spoon every morning and you will never need a flu shot.

Neither do I, and I have lived in sub-zero temperatures
