So who are they bringing for concerts?

I never went to the Muscat Festival since maybe 5-6 years now or more because i find it boring but last time my brother and 2 sisters when and they liked it so i might go this time if i had time!

I hope Abu Baker Salim comes, even though I wouldn't attend it since I'm in UK, I'd still get the songs he will sing :D

Last years concert was alright, but it wasn't sold out.

This is one festival I might actually visit and try to enjoy. I've never enjoyed any before!

I love the festival (mahrajan). Just the feel of people enjoying them selves and me and my friends going all crazy. Its so much fun. After all, fun is a state of mind.:yes:

Anyways, I have good news for you people who are not sure whether to go or not and for you people who are out of Oman or in the UK in particular...

i saw the opening ceremony. well, i must say, the silky shiny glittery outfits are definitely Omani taste :p and they added lots of feathers this time round lol.

i think they should make it a bit more traditional. at least the outfits will be a tad nicer. i presume! xD

Unfortunately, I am going to miss it for the first time in my life. It isn't as if I had so much fun in the previous years, but it was a period where there was a change in the routine.

I do watch it when I'm infront of tv, but going over there doesn't compute for me.

I went to Qurm Natural Park today, its amazing how they remodeled the Lake! Its like Corniche now!! i was amazed to see that. Other than that it was boring, same heritage village n all, but the Corniche lake was amazing, wanted to take pix but dint have a nice camera and the phone cam wasnt giving good results.
Tomm gona try Sahwa Gardens maybe, dunno....

the festival doesnt seem all that fun and exciting to me :bored:
it's the same every year!! PLUS, too crowded!!! and the stares!! errrr:mmhmm:

I don't know if I'm attending or not...I'm not being negative but it's really boring! I mean what do they have other than the rides? And to be honest I don't like to go on them rides because I dunno if they're safe or not. Heritage village? That's so lame! I think the festival is meant to be for those people from the interior who really have nothing to entertain them...I mean they don't go cruising or chill at sec cup and shop at malls the way we Muscatis do. So they're the ones who anticipate and look forward for the festival...that's why they drive all the way from the interior to Muscat in their pickups...10 or more individuals crammed up in one tiny pickup lol


Might attend a concert or something...if there are interesting artists coming over that is.

I there are intresting stuff, esp. for kids .. I am planning to go one of those days .. I am just dreading the crowd.

No but what I was trying to say is that at least we have some entertainment sources around (cafes, diners, cinemas, malls)...whereas they don't! That's why they anticipate the festival more than us.

I went to Qurum Natural Park yesterday. The first thing I noticed was how less the traffic was compared to previous years. Once I was in, to be honest, it was very dull and boring. Good thing the weather was alright and it wasn't that crowded.

I visited two large tents (khaimas) in the park, one called the "Electronics Culture" and the second one was called "Educational Culture". The first one hasn't been launched as yet officially, but I am excited about it. The second one, Educational Culture, was extremely PATHETIC and below par. I think Omani students are out of creativity.

its messed up this year, I think some places were cancelled because of the rain.
I went to Othaiba and Qurum commercial area.
Othaiba was not that crowded, which was good. but Qurum commercial Area had only ONE game :bored: while in the papers they said its going to be full of games. They told me there that some were cancelled because they were damaged by the rain :cry:
But i think places are less crowded because we have more than 2 sites, unlike the last years

Plus that they got the Qurum commercial area back again :love: it was my favourite in the past!
I guess its not the same as it was before. I passed by the area on Wednesday, there was only this stage, nothing else!

It sucks !..The rides are not scary and the place is empty its one hell of a fashil (erm bad?) festival :p

Ok... I am sorry everyone but I'll have to disagree with you all:shy: The festival is not about games, games and more games. Its about the spirit of Oman, the feel of the crowd, the feel of change and that memory that you are gona have in the future:yes:

I have been to the Italian gold and silver exhibition at Bait al Zubair Museum.

I enjoyed the pieces, the culture sculpted inside and the story each item reveals about the past... so creative and inspiring :cute:

if anyone is interested in art and Antiques , then you should go. last day is Sunday.

Well, Speaking of Muscat Festival, it is getting better every year but I don't think it has been better than the first ever Festival. The first time is always the best. But let's be serious, Salalah Spring Festival is much much better than Muscat Festival.
