View Full Version : Would you challenge your fear...?
of heights, deep water or dark?
-----
I've challenged them all yet I still get scared from heights and the dark sometimes as for deep water I discovered a whole different world through diving
------
What about you? And do you think that you would overcome the fear you got (for example fear of dark)?
MissKindy 18-01-08, 03:31 PM I have a fear of being alone is a place full of people whom i dont know and specially if they were boys ..
I went to malls in other countries on my own but i still seem to get scared sometimes lol
MissKindy do you tend to have somebody escorting you like a family member/close friend?
Some of my siblings got the same fear, I think its weird..
MissKindy 18-01-08, 03:42 PM Yes i do mostly it's my cousin or my cousin and a friend sometimes
Well it's weird and anoying i dont feel confident with it ..I'll try getting over it inshallah :)
Fear of heights (http://www.chugachelectric.com/images/Dynamite_Slough_090806_lg.jpg) ... now in my profession if you have a fear of heights you better find another job!
The first time I made a 100ft+ dive I sucked that tank dry ... but when it was over it felt like ... victory!
Both are an adrenaline rush for sure. No matter how many times you do it ... it's still a rush.
jack I love your job :p
100ft+ wow that's pretty amazing mine was 27foot... small number compared to yours, hahaha...
Pen_it_Black 18-01-08, 03:48 PM I used to be a really timid person before, terrified of living in another country far away from home on my own paying bills and being totally independent. When I first arrived in NZ I was so paranoid of everything lol espically what with how the world looks upon muslims so I felt really exposed. But then I met someone here and they taught me that in order to overcome these fears you need to face them. And so I did :D Learnt how to be depended, going out on my own and doing everything for myself, driving on the wrong side of the road :p etc lol. There's no point in wasting your days afraid of something, you only get the day once and never again.
Hmm I used to also have an incredible phobia from cockroaches...like I'd go mad with fear when I see them and just run in the other direction. But I conqured that fear :D about two weeks ago this huge coackroach appeared in the kitchen. Instead of screaming and running around like a headless chicken I calmly grabbed four layers of tissue, caught the coackroach and threw it out, I dont like killing stuff. But oooh I can tell you I felt so incredibly faint after I threw the coackroach out and had to remind myself to breath again coz I was holding my breath lol
I love what you stated up there "There is no point in wasting your days afraid of something" ;)
I'm not very afraid of heights, but I guess a LITTLE. Everyone has some fear of falling, I think...
I would like to try skydiving one day. Or bungee jumping. Or both.
^ Sounds like a plan!! How about we go to the sunshine coast in OZ and try sky diving there? xD I tried it and it was super!!!!!
fears..
I have a fear of small spaces, claustraphobia.
And a fear of flying.
I guess, although I'm afraid of getting on a plane, I have done and will keep doing so.
As for small places, I don't think it's a fear I'll ever get over.
I used to be afraid of the sea. Once I was on a small pleasure craft that stalled and large wave flipped it. I saw it coming and managed to jump into the sea before it threw us off.. but I lost all my belongings.. after that, I didn't want to even look at the sea.. it terrified me. The force of it...
Seeing waves curl in the distance still makes me uneasy, but a couple of summers later I took my first steps into the sea again. It's a great feeling to be able to fight your fear. I still don't like being on a boat though.
I'm not sure I'd be afraid of diving to huge depths.. I feel really comfortable once i'm IN the sea.. as long as it's not too far from the shore. My problem would be wearing a mask.. and breathing through it. That's where claustraphobia comes in again.
Oblivious 19-01-08, 09:37 AM Well, I don't know if I have any fears, lol. I know I have a fear of Cats...and no, I wouldn't kiss a cat, never.

Oblivious 19-01-08, 09:43 AM NO!
Yesterday, our house door was open, and a cat was trying to get in....my dad waiting for it to come in and he was so happy, he was calling the cat to get in! I started yelling and was so damn scared!
They're disgusting and they stare at me all the time

Oblivious 19-01-08, 09:48 AM I swear!! and they always come near me for some reason!! WHY?!!
I love puppies, but cats??! no thank you!
Maybe they know you fear them so they get closer, cats are very weird! I have a sister who doesn't like cats and in my family the only person who owns a cat is my sister in law, everytime we visit them the cat ends up following my sister wherever she goes even though she hates him he keeps following!

Superbia 19-01-08, 04:06 PM I always feared needles! But thank God I'm over 'em now, since I got my vaccination a couple of months ago :hyper: I'm so proud of myself, now I can say: "Been there, done that!" :p
UnKnown 19-01-08, 04:53 PM I always try to challenge my fear of heights which developed when I became an adult, I've had a passion for higher places since I was a kid and I still do when I am 30yrs old. Unfortunately though, I cannot overcome the phobia no matter how hard I try to look down from high places.
To challenge my fear of Insects? never! Too creepy!

Same with me. I have gone on a fligh so that was done and it was a miracle lol. When I started to teach, the small places fear started to vanish, thanks to some certain people, but still though still have that sort of phobia especially when I went into the plane lol.
I do not have any phobia caused by animals or insects.
Pinturicchio 20-01-08, 11:20 PM I"d love to go skydiving one day... i dont really fear heights, nor do i fear jumping of high places (ive done it alot before).. but i still need to go skydiving..
