View Full Version : "Bush" the next "prophet
Anyone care to comment on Bush's speech in the UAE?
Is he the man or what.......freedom and democracy, that's what the middle east needs.....
In the meantime his oil Mistress....Saudi Arabia jails it's citizens for the slightest critizisms of it's royal family.....
The Bush speech..
"Bush gave the speech on democracy in one of the few countries in the region -- the United Arab Emirates -- where democracy has been virtually ignored. In other countries in the region, especially Egypt, the fight between democracy activists and autocratic governments has been much more pointed and controversial."

Activists and pro-democracy movements rise in oppressed societies such as Egypt, Syria and others.
People in U.A.E are generally living a good life, for them the need to have a full democratic system is not major issue as long as they get what they need including free medical services, free education, free housing for the ones who are not capable financially, financial benefits for the young Emaraties who want to get married and a lot more.
amo_l_oman 14-01-08, 08:20 AM He said UAE is the best example of Muslim country
Enough said lol
I am certain Bush is following Michael Jackson's example. He is going to retire end of this year, and he needs some nice resorts and lands to invest in, so he decided to pay UAE and Bahrain a visit.
Jacko boy came to Oman too, btw :p
What to say
Another mistakes to be added to his long list :bored:
He completed his mission by destroying Iraq.
Superbia 14-01-08, 10:05 AM His nexts stop is going to be at KSA
my God!! I believe what we have is enough, no western influence of democracy plz!
I think what he really means is "We believe absolutely that freedom and democracy willl bring peace and prosperity to the region.....or if that's a bit complicated, you're probably OK if you have Starbucks and McDonalds everywhere....let's see....yep! This place looks OK...how about pork ribs...? No? Aww shit...oh well...hey look..Dairy Queen! Cool! Yeah, sure this is a developed country with human rights...not like those damn cussed Iranians with their kebabs and own-brand cola...a$$holes!"
heyyyyyyyyyyyy, we like kebabs!!
Me too, more than McDonalds. But maybe George thinks they are a threat to his civilisation?
Superbia 14-01-08, 05:05 PM He's the main sponser of war and state terrorism, and now he has the guts to give us a lesson on democracy!

You may be surprised to know.......that early Islam was quite democratic.....the problem now is getting past tribalism.....
Good luck, get on the wagon......it only hurts for alittle while....
"Give me liberty or give me death", or on second thought......an Ipod and latte would be fine.....

I wasn't talking about Islam here, I was talking about my country, my Oman, and also Gulf countries. Our country is doing very good, and should not be introduced to any other political ideas like democracy because there's nothing much wrong with Monarchy and also we owe sa7eb Jalala soooo much! In 37 years the country has really Evolved as if it was warped into 100 years towards future!
I'm greatful for what we have now, wouldn't want any experiments to go on and ruin it.

You are totally right.....Omanis don't make good experiments.....having a voice in your government is another matter......you might consider...especially the next time you need to get something done with the ministries without wasta.....

Bush the next prophet? lol, well he certainly won't be; but i can tell you this, he certainly cares about profit!
^^ who doesn't?
especially the next time you need to get something done with the ministries without wasta.....
I DO get things done without wasta 'cuz I don't know anyone to have it in the first place, it all depends on your own skills and this thing will be there even if democracy or communism or anything!

Good one.....with oil at 100$ a barrel......I guess the Arabs aren't complaining either, right?
I thought the Americans were suppose to steal it anyway.....

Great.....so miracles do happen in Oman then....good to hear it.
But I doubt it......if your Cousin ain't connected your claim goes to the bottom of the pile......
That's the unfortuate side of your style of government, it doesn't benefit the normal guy at all.

The thing is Fatak, that everyone has a cousin with a good position, and/or a community or tribal leader who has access to ministers etc. It's not a formalised democratic structure in the Western sense, but to say that nobody in Oman gets to ask for what they want, is simply false. It's not perfect, then neither is parliamentary democracy. But it's called "consensual leadership".
tell me, is there a right of a land to a citizen in any democratic countries? we do! Every citizen is entitled to recieve a piece of land. Its all because of the Monarch rule, and the idea of a country being ruled by just one person is better, he has advisors, but they're just advisors, he does what he thinks good for his country, his Sultanate. In a democracy there is soooo much input that at the end they don't know what to do! Look at Pakistan, that country is literally destroyed!
I see......maybe just a case of semantics......the tribal leaders act as for example in the case of USA Congressmen or Senators, who in turn listen to their group who elected them......pushing their interests.....if you have someone who knows the Congressman, chances are you will get faster action.
Personally I think with such a small population like Oman.....they have the most suitable system of government.....I do worry when the present leader passes on....and how Oman who handle that transition.

Mr Tickle 15-01-08, 07:00 PM SoMe!
Where have you been!
HairlyMan 16-01-08, 03:07 PM Wow ! Another misunderstander of the religion of peace.
Exodus 15:3The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.
The thing everyone should have learned about Bush by now, is that there's always some way to explain whatever nonsense he's saying rather than discrediting it.
The only reason I can think of of him saying that is that there's not much to say really about a countr that has a laissez-faire approach to things.
