Animals Torn to Pieces by Lions in Front of Baying Crowds: The Spectator Sport China DOESN’T Want You to See (http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives/2008/01/animals_torn_to.php)

"Baying crowds now gather in zoos across the country to watch animals being torn to pieces by lions and tigers."

"Next to the main slaughter arena is a restaurant where families can dine on braised dog while watching cows and goats being disembowelled by lions."

"There are numerous other creatures, including tigers, which also appear to have been driven insane by captivity. Predictably, they are kept in cramped, filthy conditions."

"Simply put, Chinese families now gather in zoos to hurl coins at tortoises."

“It’s monstrous that people hurl coins at the tortoises, but strapping their heads down with elastic bands so they can’t hide is even more disgusting."

"live cows are fed to tigers to amuse cheering crowds"

"Tiger meat is eaten widely in China and the wine, made from the crushed bones of the animals, is a popular drink."

O_o

Oh that's so cruel! Is this true about tiger being eaten? Aren't they an endangered species and so need to be protected?

I watched a documentary about the different animals eaten around Eastern Asia countries. The animals like dogs, cats and monkeys are kept in tiny and dirty cages and sold in markets. You have the option of having the seller slaughter the animal and clean it up infront of you.

(A bit off topic -->) In addition to this they also eat human babies in some areas of China. My flatemate here is Chineses and I asked her about it and she said it's true, there is a black market where they kidnap babies and sell it to people. Apparently eating babies will give you youth and vitality :os

Iran removed the lion and the sun from it's flag, and as a national symbol, in 1979.

I have never been to China, and I find the idea of deep fried puppies (my friend saw this in Beijing) or other animals being mistreated, abhorrent.

But I have to say I'm more concerned about inhuman treatment of people as an international priority.
