Your eyes are not deceiving you – this SUV has a prancing horse on the bonnet. In a move set to cause a stir across the world, Ferrari is considering putting its famous name to a rival for the Porsche Cayenne.
Called project F151, the prospect of a Ferrari SUV will cause uproar with car enthusiasts across the globe. However, the firm’s bosses have watched the success of Porsche’s 4x4 with interest, and want to increase profits.
With a practical interior, estate car luggage capacity and rough-road ability, the model would open the Ferrari range up to a huge new customer base. Still in its early stages, the project is yet to be given the green light by bosses nervous of tarnishing Ferrari’s legendary brand image. Our shots shows what the classy off-roader could look like in showroom-ready trim. At around five metres long and two metres wide, the jacked-up Ferrari would offer luxurious transport for five passengers to travel in style.
While designers face the challenge of making the Ferrari beautiful, engineers have to make it live up to the firm’s dynamic reputation. Powerplants are yet to be finalised, but it’s thought that the Ferrari will be offered with a choice of V8 and V12 engines from the firm’s existing stable. Read more... Rock Devil 07-01-08, 09:35 PM It looks alot like the Ford Edge.
NiGhTFaCe 07-01-08, 09:36 PM If you ever hated the idea of Porsche making an SUV, & that Cayenne gets on your nerves, so then you should see this :D
Though myself I am waiting to see how the coded Ferrari F151 will come out.
It looks alot like the Ford Edge.
Not even close!
By the way, these are not real images of the upcoming vehicle.
will that mean, this gona be the cheapest Ferrari?? to compete with Cayenne right?
Rock Devil 07-01-08, 09:40 PM It's nice to have a cheap ferrari.
It looks alot like the Ford Edge.
Which world do you live in ?
I've seen this. The Fiorano's face sounds like a very interesting approach, I'm not particularly excited. I've always fancied the strech out of a Ferrari, this is bulky and toddy.
Rossonero 07-01-08, 09:50 PM Cayenne front and FX35 Rear (Judging from the sideways look) :p
Rock Devil 07-01-08, 09:56 PM By the way, these are not real images of the upcoming vehicle.
Ti3jib, see this, and what I say is my point of view.
Dam3eti 07-01-08, 10:02 PM Nice,, Looks a bit like the cayene
RD,
I know it's not a real car. It's a renderation of what the car could be like. But that still doesn't relate to this (or the real) car looking like the Ford Edge.
I know it's your opinion. Who else would it be.
Rock Devil 07-01-08, 10:10 PM I don't get your point.
My point is that if I say itlooks like the Ford Edge, then thats my point of view. You may disagree me because you got your point of view.
A Point of view is a starting point of having a thought, not an excuse for a ridiculous one.
Cheers,
CompulsiveWaves 07-01-08, 11:09 PM It looks really nice from the front but the rear isnt that good
Elvenblade 07-01-08, 11:13 PM now thats sexy :p
i love it
*starts selling drugs/money laundry/...etc so he can afford it*
NiGhTFaCe 08-01-08, 12:01 AM People are missing the point, this is how the car might look like. But, its not the real car.
Angel_Eyes 08-01-08, 10:03 AM i think it's a baaaad idea...really! why dont they do a limo?
its a beautiful car but its looks like the porsche cayenne tho:S...
Angel_Eyes 08-01-08, 11:20 AM ^ i agree.. it looks nice but if someone wanted an SUV, it should only be for things like going up on hills, mountains and off road..no one wants to drive their ferrari in those places!!!
Spanarr 08-01-08, 11:22 AM The grills or whatever is Maserati style. Lol
I like the classic, sexy, seductive Ferrari's better.
This looks a lot like a Cayenne, and we have lots of those in the Gulf. Not cool!
Kamakazy 08-01-08, 12:05 PM I support the idea of all car makers to offer a SUV in their fleet... be it a luxury car as well...
My only concern is having an SUV that is able to go off road, i.e 4L, off road tiers, ground clearance...
Another concern is, who has the heart to spend 30~40 thousand Omani Rials on a car like that and take it off roading?
i3u00n_ildenya 08-01-08, 12:45 PM As everyone already mentioned, it looks like a Cayenne. Like, if you just glance at it driving by, you'll see a Cayenne, but if you pay attention to it, it's a Ferrari.
It looks nice, and something I would enjoy looking at. :cute:.. But it seems like those one-time wonders cars.
death rose 08-01-08, 01:24 PM ahaha .. i think its hot :D
AE .. not everyone who buys an SUV means he wants to go to these places lol
maybe its a family thats why they need an SUV .. or he buy that ferrari coz its HOT :P
Very cool indeed. It should be a competitor for Porche's SUV.
AMARANT 08-01-08, 07:44 PM i think they should stick to sport cars :mmhmm:
but the cayenne made a blast, this might as well ...
Cute_Ting 09-01-08, 04:11 AM i love the color but for some reason it makes me go aaaawwwwwwwwww
Angel_Eyes 09-01-08, 10:25 AM ^what the? LOOOOOOOOOOL...
as amarant said...they should stick to sports cars!! :mmhmm:
I like it, planning to book two of them :)
Well, nobody really knows what it will look like. The digitial image the magazine has made up is no guide, although I would point out that if you're designing a 4x4 even for the first time, making the ground clearance lowest at the front of the car is kind of dumb.
Anyway, I suspect that Ferrari will go ahead: Sports cars are the most profitable cars, but so are super-luxury 4x4s, and you can get a much bigger market with them, because you start to take on the luxury saloon car market as a competitor: Ferrari sports cars sell to pop/football stars, kids with inheritances and small-testicled property developers. But a super-sexy 4x4 can replace your executive's Mercedes S series or Lexus as a smart showy car that's also big enough for the family at the weekend. That spells turnover, as well as margin.
I remember years ago you could get a Lamborghini version of a Hummer. Maybe they should head in that direction and make something really outrageous - it would be much more fun to see than yet another turbocharged Prado-clone with funny headlights and low profile tyres. Yawn.
I always thought the Cayenne was dog ugly. And for the money, you could get a fun little sports car and a used Landcruiser "G" for bashing around off road, both of which would out-perform it in their own environment.
Anyway, each to his own: Bring it on Ferrari, but please do something outrageous!
ChezChez 09-01-08, 06:45 PM It looks like cayane [sp?] :cute:
The-pictures-are-not-real-the-magazine-made-them-up. Nobody knows what it looks like because it's not invented yet - that was just an illustration to go with the story that Ferrari might be thinking about making a SUV.
