Is Al Qaeda the biggest threat to world peace?

Yes and the followers of their Islamic political ideology.

I think it is A threat, and a big one. But not THE threat. Population growth, resource competition, climate change, water rights....demogaphic changes in certain influential countries...

If we look forward fifty years I think there might be bigger ones. Oh, and as for now, they are not the only group with unrealistic and inhumanly chauvinistic views on other peoples and their viewpoints.

I don't think so.
I think that America with Israel (unless stopped now) are the biggest threat.

No, Al Qaeda and all similar extremist groups are born, fueled and eventually become monsters because of poor governance and aggressive policies.

Before 9/11, Al Qaeda was a small group that had started an underground war against the US government. The general public around the world didn't even know much about them. Osama Bin Laden himself was running around finding shelter sometimes in Sudan and othertimes in Afghanistan.

Don't forget, there were/are so many other similar groups just as Al Qaeda. Anyhow, thanks to the childish, selfish and idiotic policies adapted and implemented by Bush's government, its allies and to-be allies, Al Qaeda grew exponentially.

The lives of decent and normal people in Afghanistan, then UK, EU countries, then Iraq, Jordan and now Pakistan have all been affected by this pathetic "war on terror" policy from the US government.

I am not against fighting terrorists, but fighting those who don't want to get involved is stupid and pathetic. There are millions of youngsters in countries like Iraq and Pakistan who don't get a chance to use their energy. Instead of building education systems and jobs for them, their houses and families were killed as "colateral damage".

These people don't see the big picture and always get involved with Al Qaeda and others like them.

All this mess around the world today is the making of the current US government. We can't blame a stupid group of angry men for this. You can compare Bush and his idiotic policies with what Musharraf has been doing in Pakistan. He started attacking and bombing his own village people because US believe terrorists hid those villages, today, all those village people are Al Qaeda and look at all the suicide bombings in Pakistan.

Sting,

Do you believe that the US should have done nothing in response to 9/11?
