Forbes Arabia launched 2 months ago an article about the richest Arabian kings and rulers which can be found here (http://news.filbalad.com/News.asp?NewsID=21824).
For those non-Arabic readers here is the list of the richest Arabian rulers:
1- Sheikh Khalifa Al-Nahyan (President of the United Arab Emirates): 21 Billion American Dollars.
2- King Abdullah Al-Sauod (King of Saudi Arabia Kingdom): 19 Billion American Dollars.
3- Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum (Vice president of the UAE and the ruler of Dubai): 16 Billion American Dollars.
4- King Mohammed the 6th (King of Morocco): 2 Billion American Dollars.
5- Sheikh Sabah bin Ahmed Al-Sabah (President of Kuwait): 500 Million Dollars.
6- His Majesty Qaboos bin Said Al-Said (Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman): 500 Million Dollars.
Where do they get these numbers from? And if this was their actual fortune then this makes Al-Waleed bin Talal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alwaleed_Bin_Talal) richer than all of the Arabian rulers?

So no it does make him the richest
The last time I checked, his fortune reached 23 Billions so I think Wikipedia's article isn't updated.
so what if he is richer than them ?
Shouldn't the rulers (or at least the Arabian ones) be multi billionaires?
The purpose of this thread is about Forbes Arabia's article ... They should at least bring sources of the money before publishing it and if this was the rulers actual fortunes ... Do you think it's the real one?
Take Mohammed bin Rashid as in example ... His companies are much more bigger than Al-Waleed companies and his total fortune is less than him.
At the end everyone makes mistakes, even Forbes.
1- Sheikh Khalifa Al-Khalifa (President of the United Arab Emirates): 21 Billion American Dollars.
Sheikh Khalifa Al Nahyan the President of the UAE :)

Arabianbusiness list (http://www.arabianbusiness.com/richlist) is usually reliable
Being a president does Not mean being richer than business men!
in Fact, Bling, being a president is like being the chairman of a really huge company; which is the country. thats why economists classify countries as oligopolies because a country is like a big business. so Al-Waleed bin Talal is not any less than a business man; just like any president's country in this perspective. so it is very normal if any individual is richer than the king or the ruler.
before the 1970's there were so many Omani's who were Way Richer than Sultan Saeed bin Taimur. i have names ane evidence but its not appropriate to publish them. in short, it is very normal if a businessman becomes richer than his country's ruler. this happens also in the UK, and the USA... the world's largest economies where there are people richer than their leaders.
Where do they get these numbers from?
Taxes and Oil (big time)
plus their individual businesses...
not to forget, alWaleed bin Talal is a Prince and the king's cousin or something (ie: from the royal family) so that actually helps...

Yeah I know who exactly are you talking about. ;)
BUT ... This time it's different, we're now living a better life than the way it was 38 years back ... We've much much much more sources of income so you can't compare the way we're now and the past.

I don't think being a royal helped him a lot, since the royals in Saudi Arabia get 10,000 OMR monthly and you know that they're many members of the royal family in KSA so if that money helped we would've seen many businessmen from them.
Al-Waleed is the current King's nephew but his father was unwanted from the Royal Family because he married a Lebanese lady (which is Al-Waleed's mom)* and Al-Waleed is a self made billionaire he started his fortune with a loan.**
*Don't remember where I read this.
**This is mentioned in his book.

Al-Waleed bin Talal is a member of the Saudi royal family but he isn't an Arabian king nor is he a ruler
Why should he be on the list?

I didn't say he should be in the list, I'm wondering how come the Arabian Businessmen are richer than the Arabian Kings?

Waleed Bin Talal father was kicked from K.S.A, and he wouldn't be in K.S.A now if he didn't have the money
:cute:
The list is pathetic. His Majesty with 500m ? .. The poorest multimillionaire in Oman has more than that.
