I guess we need more suggestion for the sport athurity to improve the sport in Oman, but how that the question, and I guess from you we can get some answers???

maybe if we had more sports to play, i mean everywhere u go u find ppl playing football, what about the other sports, like water sports for exapmle. i never saw a surfer in oman, excpent in an internet cafee. we need to be known about whats going on around us here in oman. what sport is going on. it is going to be dificult but it could be done.

We need a sport man with sport mind in the top of the sport authority then things can go well. There are some indvidulal sport' cause nothing coparing to football and we have a talented people. Take the following example in how can we creat an Int. level sport man:

In S.Q.U there is a sport collegue -or what ever the name is- and its 4 year long study. We end up with an old style sport teacher -i think everyone still remumber them-. If we can re-plan the study system in S.Q.U. in the sport collegue, making the student select one game or sport as main subject and another or two as sub. one's. In four year's of hard training -and to pass he need to score some high marks in practical- & theorical study of the same sport, dont you people think we will end up with well educated high standard sprots students.

You better clrealy understand that the government don't like ppl wasting there time in sports, sports for them is total waste of time. that taken from the top level of governement. the country now is a phase of development and building and there is no time to play game for them, and the sport which me and you guys looking for can't be start unless there is a complete diversification of governement strategy in sport, and changing the Sport Organization into a Ministry and give the minister a seat in the Ministries cabinate. cus whatever you do in sport now, it will reach no high, and the governement will look at it as achivement whitout they plan,or they get more than what they expect.
If you look into the yearly budget disterbution you can see that the sport and youth activity sector has the least amount, and according to the statistics Oman is youth population which means the highest number of populatiuon are in the youth age, with that is should put more money into them and generate them, but that never happens cus they won't have way to steal !!!

Sports in Oman ia joke, even though those achivement we have done in the U16 year team was fake cus they bring 25 years guys to play with 16 years boys, and they barely win!!!
You can see other sport which is non-governemt fund they imporve much better and in very healthy way which can last for years like Rallying and motor sports and we can say water sports too cus the governement dont pay a baiza.

This topic is really a headach and many sides play part in being such a joke in Oman, so let's have fun by just watching it and enjoy that moment and not diggin' into it.

All I can say is that Sport is not fully funded by the governmnet. If we look at the funds paid to each club, they don't even pay all the staff.

Rials first think and also company they have to support not only to put advertising.also more think the studume must be fully when club or International team they playing,for example saudarab always a studume fully,more and more but what we can dooooooo???

IF we see in tabe tennis the national teem all from one teem in oman .... there are from seeb club .... why they dont get sport people from other parts of oman ... only the same players play every year for oman and no any new ppl can inter the teem why like this!!!!!!!!!! is it haker for some ppl then others

I don't think that sport will improve in Oman ,,not at least b4 100 yrs !!!! ( Being so optimistic)

There are many aspects to this problem ,,
In my opinion the first one is the financial support given by the government ,,we can say there is no support .

It's not a matter that government don't want people waste thier time ,,coz sports is not kinda of wasting time as someone mentioned above ! and i don't think the government look at it fom this point of view ,,By sport we can tell the world about our country ,,we could advertise for it ,,many peple around the world haven't even heard about Oman !!!

Compared with other GCC Countries ,,our sport teams are in the bottom of the list ,,with some exeptional occasions,,

What has been mentioned about our national football team u-17 and what they achieved is true ,,and no body can argue about it ,the age difference was obvious ,,and our team is banned from the Asian Nations Cub ,,i don't know for how long !

Another point is ,,the mentality of those who are on top of the sport tree ,,how they think ,,i guess they look at it as if it was a company ,,waiting for money to get ,,sport is not such thing that you expect to get the benefit immediately ,,it needs long term planning ,,by which you can achieve minimum of your aims .

The majority of those people in charge of any sport organisation have nothing to do with sport ,,not even a reasonable backgrooung about it ,,They don't have time to think about it ,,coz they are busy with thier copmanies and trades .

Moreover,,all thier concentration (if any) is on the team sports neglecting what could a single ,or double sports could do with lesser money provided .
Single games are they way to get medals in the competitions ,,and many country are well know coz of this ,,i.e Algeria and Moroco .

We have the material ,,but we lack of support ,,to reach the competitave levels ,,When it comes to non-government support the difference was clear ,,as Menioned b4 Hamed Al Wuhaibi ,,and Al Nabhani's brothers at Tennis .

I don't know if i shhould stop or not ,coz i feel i ve written alot ,,but let me say another point ,,which is Was6a ,

How come you bring a coach for national team ,,and tell him those are the players you gonna deal with !!!!!!!

They don't even let them to choose who is the best and who is good enough to represent his country,twon ,,whatever .

Hmm nice topic but very few answers to the questions posed.....

In my opinion as someone has already mentioned oman is going through a development progress(like as if it is) and the authorities have kept sports plans at bay at the moment....Thats a very bad thing to do becoz in my opinion if Oman did well in the sports field then Oman will be getting greater worldwide recognition and they'll be having better relation with other countries in terms of import,export etc...

The problem with oman( as again someone has already mentioned) is that there is no govt funding for sports..The major sporting funds are reserved for Football and atletics here and there.Other sports like cricket and hockey,table-tennis,snooker,basketball etc is looked down by the govt and all these other major sports end up being promoted by private companies....

Thus in my opinion if sports should grow in oman then the govt should do something about it and take sports very seriously.....they should have enough funds to promote athletes etc.....They should also open up youth academies everywhere offering free coaching and travel etc..And Most importantly there should be a powerful authority up there who loves sports!!
