I've got a minor problem with cracked heels. It's minor, because I do try to treat them when I remember.. but I thought I'd share this with you because you guys wear sandals alot, and with your weather, it's bound to be something common.

Wearing sandals often causes the heel to dry up and crack. Infact, summer is when I find I start getting dry skin on my feet. This is the first time I got cracked heels and I'm finding it really hard to get rid of..

I exfoliate the area and apply moisturising cream about 4 times a week but it doesn't seem to be enough.

Any other tips?

They say sleeping with socks on will help but my feet are like my body's thermostat. If they feel hot, so will the rest of me. :D

btw, these are cracked heels.

Try applying petroleum jelly every night before you go to bed and, as you mentioned, sleep with your socks on. I heard it works. I never tried it though. If socks alone make you feel hot, vaseline and socks together will suffocate you!

Vaseline and socks before going to bed is the best!

^^ Yup, that works, I've tried it, and also scrub them while taking a bath or in the shower. :)

I never had cracked heels but I once noticed when cracks were about to start. I realized it was because of the leather sandals I was using. Nylon sandals and leather sandals with well-finished insteps are the best to avoid cracks.
There is a Vaseline product against heels cracks.

i think you should use a pumice stone regularly, scrub scrub and moisturise with body shop mango body butter. they leave feet really soft and smooth. and smelling great too.

You know i think dry skin on feet indicates that your body lacks something... (reflexology) ensure that you have a healthy diet...

healthy diet = good skin :)

while you are at home, cleaning, watching TV..etc

just apply it and wear soucks...couple hours later , you will see and feel the difference

I used to wear sandles but after facing this problem, i started wearing closed shoe with socks  when im going outdoors during morning time... i prefer to look out of fashion than have the cracked heel again

Hamdulilah i never had this problem, coz during day time i make sure to wear shoes which covers the whole foot, i dont wanna burn my feet with Oman's Beautiful 50 Degree sun heat.

I have been using this "Softening Foot Butter" from boots, dunno if you can find it there.. Its amazing as if u had a pedicure..

It does wonders.. u tend to get a tingling when applying it, thats when u know its working.

Another thing if u have time, regular pedicure improves the condition so much .

The easiest way is as everbody else mentioned , vaseline petroleum jell with socks on.

I had a pumice stone but it's not rough enough. The other day I used wet sand paper... I read online that Madonna's beauty therapist uses it on her feet. LOL So, I thought I'd give it a go.. and it works wonders...

I need to buy one of them steel ones...

Today I bought a new exfoliating balm for cracked heels..have to buy some vaseline and try it.. will see how it goes..

:p many good tips around here, there is no harm from adding an extra one; what we use at home is E45 it's bettter than vaseline cos it stays longer and leaves your skin softer after three days of using it! I really recommand having it.

applying Vaseline and wearing socks while sleeping is the best. you can also scrub them with olive oil and salt, and then dip then in warm water for a little while, this is bound to help you.

all the best hun :cute:

And also don't walk in the sand (not the beach sand, but like the construction type sand).

Cheers

Some of the suggestions I read here would work. What works for me is walk along the beach, when I say walk I mean walk, not just walk. I mean on regular basis, over time the cracks should disapear...
