If you are feeling unwell, how long will you wait till you decide to be seen by your doctor?

I rarely go to the doctor's. Usually when I'm sick, I just rely on my parents' advice (since they're doctors). I describe my symptoms and they tell me which medication to take.

The only problem with this is when I'm abroad and I don't have access to some medication without a prescription, then if there's no alternative medication which I can use and get from a drugstore, I'd go see a doctor so I can get my hands on the pills I need.

If I was on my own, I probably wouldn't wait more than 2-3 days before seeking professional help..

I don’t seek doctor’s advice unless if I am run out of options or ideas to cure my self. Or sometime I will call Um Albanin or text her to give me her advice, if nothing worked which is rare, then will end up setting up an appointment for a visit.

I hate going to the clinic and i hate medication, plus I am not good in behaving positively to have my medication constantly!

I know that if Um Albanin read this, she will just start shouting at me AGAIN!

Well, depending on the symptoms; how serious they are!

I mostly rely on the internet - medical websites! I know so lame to come from a health professional (myself!), but i must admit I so much rely on the internet and according to what I find I make the decision as to whether visit a doctor or just let time tell what happens next!

One of the reasons why Oman's health care is way above par is due to the fact that in general the Omanis visit the Dr on every minor complaint, this is because of two reasons:

1- Health care is free (you pay only 0.2 O.R on every visit, that's equivalent to $ 0.5), many just come for collecting over the counter medications for the whole family with that amount

2- Health services are available in each & every corner of Oman

So taking that into account, generally people see the Dr immediately after the onset of the symptoms & do not wait that often

So this is a good habit because this way many conditions can be diagnosed early & treated on time

I always wait a 1 week, even if I was hiting 40 degrees. And eventually, it always goes after a week. If it doesn't in the future, I will be forced to go see a doctor, even though, I HATE doctors with all passion.

i go to my dr about EVERYTHING, small big...i ask her things about like why do i have that pimple there, cu i get white heads form the sun OOHH GOD, its annoying lol
