he's saving his love in the piggy bank. It's a metaphor. Like someone who is saving himself for his/her one true love on his/her wedding night. The fatter the piggy bank, the longer the wait.

Well in Italy we use other animals also, important is that you have the hole to put the money and the plug to recollect them and we call it "salvadanaio" [money saver] so we are not piggish
Ok then, before you make her that gift just ask "what is your opinion on piggy banks"

I choose the 'Original' piggy bank to make the concept extra clear..had I chosen the other animal like banks then it would have been a vague concept. :D
