Is it normal for a 19 year old to be getting chickenpox at this age? What are some of the downsides of getting it late? I heard that the complications are more severe when you get chickenpox as an adult. The infection is more itchy and you get more blisters?
When do those blisters exactly dry out and form crusts? Do they leave scars?

1- Yes, it is normal for an adult of any age to get chicken pox. However, it is much more rare after the young adult passes the age of 15
2- Getting all itchy & developing blisters aren't the main worries, it is the more rare serious complication such as developing a pneumonia (lung infection) but it's uncommon, being a young adult isn't a big deal unless you are pregnant or suffering from a condition that has weakened the immune system such as Diabetes for instance
3- The cycle of the vesicle turning to a crust & then a scar is usually that of 7-10 days, leaving permanent scars depends on if the person scratched himself/herself a lot, Calamine lotion along with Zeet tablets are quite effective for symptomatic treatment
---> Using a small branch of the Neem tree is very useful when trying to itch the lesions & helps in curing them
---> There is a vaccine in case you know other adults whom have not got it at childhood

Ask your mom if you got it or not
Otherwise you can get it if you get exposed

Yes, I took that injection last summer. It's called "zoster immune" or "zoster".
Painful
Well, you can find it in any private clinic around. It's givin in 2 phases, the first one is a normal injection and the second is to acticivate the anti-bodies of checkenpox virus.

Yes, and it is more serious when it recurs
Actually it is a reactivation of the virus and the condition is known as Shingles

I caught the chickenpox virus, and I'm going through hell right now. Those blisters just won't stop showing up! They're increasing by the min. There are some on my face, back, chest and a few on my arm and legs. I went to see a doctor, and he prescribed the same exact lotion and tablets you mentioned. But the lotion is just useless. Those spots keep itching and I just fight the urge to itch back. One more thing, I have a really high fever 39.2 degrees, and a sore throat...are these sypmtoms normal? This is my fourth day already.
And then my maid mentioned the Neem tree too, but she's like you have to put the leaves in a blender keep them getting blended till you get a cream like medicine. I haven't tried it soo far.
I also heard that taking pain killers during chickenpox can cause serious complications...

Oh dear I hope you recover really soon Insha-Allah
You better see your physician but I would rather go for antibiotics regarding your throat as your fever is high & your throat becoming worse I suppose
Neem extract are really good & use what I mentioned for itching your back..etc
In adults it can be more distressing than in children
Again, I suggest you see your physician for being started on antibiotics to prevent secondary bacetarial infection
Pain killers & fever lowering drugs are necessary in your condition & I am not aware of any complications caused by them
I would like to add that your should discuss with your physician the option of adding an antiviral drug in your case
