I have a problem with my laptop, I formatted it (remember, NF? :p) and then installed everything in it including the arabic fonts, but when I play movies that contain subtitles, the computer doesn't recognize the letters and show funny letters instead! I also face the same problem with .txt file and MIRC when I chat in Arabic :angry:

I guess I know this problem & I hope I am not mistaking, try this,


Go to Control Panel > Regional and Language Options, then I think you will see three tabs, choose Languages, click on Details. Just be sure Arabic is added under the Installed services. Click on the tab says Advanced. For the option that says Extend support of advanced text services to all programs under Compatibility Configuration, put a tick there.

Apply > OK.

Nightface almost got you where you should be, but instead of clicking on "Languages" in the "Regional and Language Options" click on the Advanced tab and then from the drop down menu under the "Language for non-Unicode programs" select "Arabic (Oman)", restart and off you go.

Oh yeah UnKnown. I forgot about it being there.
