View Full Version : Getting yourself to Study
Dam3eti 27-05-07, 07:23 PM I know I don't usually start threads but I'm helpless this time!
What do you guys do when you've got a final exam tomorrow and can't bring yourselves to study? I've been putting off studying this whole week telling myself that it's not much work, which really it isn't. So now since the exam is tomorrow and I really should be studying, instead, I'm telling myself I still have time since the exam is at the afternoon (3pm)!
So do you guys have any tips besides redbull, tea etc coz these didn't work yet!
Thanks.
Rossonero 27-05-07, 07:59 PM Study when you feel like studying, because nothing will get in your head when you study and you dont feel like studying.
Dam3eti 27-05-07, 08:07 PM I never "feel" like studying.
First you have to admit that you are one lazy student :D Thats your first and most important step.
To start studying you need to set the stage for that. You need to remove all distractions around you (including your mobile phone) and sit in a noise-free place. At the start it will seem hard but with time you will just go with the flow. Another thing to do is to remind yourself of the consequences of not studying on time and the results you would get if you didn't do your best at the exam, that should give you a boost.
Here is what I think about coffee, tea and RedBull; its an illusion you are creating for yourself that drinking these stuff would enable you to study, which is never the case. They will help you to stay awake though.
Oblivious 27-05-07, 08:39 PM I'm the worst person when it comes to this thread maybe. Specially NOW!
LosT_SouL 27-05-07, 09:14 PM One Thing is the Best Push for your to study ;
Ask your Mom to sit with you when you are studying with a stick :p .. When you try to leave your notes , a small whip on your back :XD:
Studying should be avoided on the last day before the exam or even sometimes a couple of days in advance
On the last 2 days or so, the student should get model exams & practice, which is sort of a thorough revision

That sounds VERY easy in theory.
That sounds VERY easy in theory.
Actually it is easy when impleneted from the start
But there are many who can study during the last days before the exam
eL3yo0oN 27-05-07, 11:21 PM Dont study at home..study in the uni library so u dont get distracted.
Dam3eti 27-05-07, 11:26 PM aha^
u should see the uni "library".
Hitman, I'm used to studying last minute and I do better under pressure.. the thing is I don't feel the pressure this time.
yasirb51 27-05-07, 11:40 PM well I do everything that want until i get bored and then i find it easier to start studying coz im bored of doing anything else ! :p
just make yourself study..once you get into it it'll be fine
unless you have so much on your mind then..there is no use :XD:
I think it depends on what you are studying!
Try feeling guilty, it sometimes works with me.
I understand your situation... i have been through ti a lot
it usually occurs when there is quite a long break before the exam... specially after pressurizing yourself studying in a long semester and suddenly you get a break ( at least 4 days) before the exam...
thus this is like a mental break where your brain try to have a break for some resting pleasure.....so with time you feel lazy and the brain forces yourself that there is a time for studying; try to have some time for some pleasure..etc
My advice is that you plan ahead. Try to write a schedule/plan of what you should do every day , divide the chapters per day.. and while scheduling put some time for break...if you got alot of days then leave the first 1-2days with minimum reading (1 chapter/day)
by this you will be giving yourself some task to finish....and keep the rhythm of being active which you were used to be during the semester...
