Yeah.
KPMG, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers, as well as Grant Thornton I think..
SlowChemical 23-05-07, 07:02 PM I may add Deloitte and Touche have an office in muscat.. Well actually we have all Big 4 in Oman.

If I'm not mistaken, possibly growth rates? Revenue?
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, usually in these rankings, not much flactuation happens? How often would their be a "jump" in rankings for any of the firms.
As in, if you have checked last year's list, I would expect the first four firms to have held their rankings..?
They should otherwise they will loose some business. Plus its so strange that we rank auditors based on growth and sales. They should be ranked on probably litigation carried against them? After all they are the watchdogs of public companies and they are there to protect investors. More litigation carried against one company "could" mean that they are not protecting the investors as they should be.
Thanks for sharing SlowChemical.
In Oman E&Y and KPMG are the two leading accounting firms right? Is there any Oman-based firm competing with them :p?
No Omani accounting firm can compete with the big 4. However there is a company that has a good rept. but I forgot the name. The guy came to SQU once to hold a lecture.

Well actually those ranking are based on Revenue Volume in US Dollars ;) '
As for the change in the ranking, very few have changed.. anyhow 2006 rankings are shown next to the current year's

Well in terms of auditing and tax alll Big 4 are competing against each other.. On the other hand in Consulting, EY have the largest market share
As for Omani Accounting and Auditing companies,, there are few.. not bad ones.. but what happens is that large companies prefer to have one of the Big 4 to audit their financials

Big firms don't prefer but rather are forced to hire big 4 auditors. Otherwise they will choose the small ones cause they charge a lower fee. They are forced cause big 4 audits are viewed as high quality audits compared with small firms audits. If they hired small firms, investors who trade with the shares would factor that into the prices applied to the shares.

That's true. I know that in the United States, since the implementation of the new law (Sarbanes Oxley) it's become very complicated and you need top specialists to make sure that everything is correct. Despite that, America's regulator found that around half of the auditors inspectors were seen to have done their job unsatisfactory.
